I feel that they can't help but be brainwashed. Most have been taught from infancy that they must believe or go to hell. It is also an incredible MLM (credit to my friend Duck for that term). Church is big business, the more they recruit the more $$$. It is also the only thing that people willingly buy with no proof of the product. They are fanatical and cannot hear reason. They repeat certain scriptures like parrots and have no real answers. They also feel a pressure to be in the majority and have great fear and hatred of those who are different. This is most definitely brainwashed, cultic behavior. 95-98% of xtians fit this description in my opinion.
They however are not evil...just annoying at times.

Define brainwashed...
I was Christened when I was a baby and I didn't have much of an option. Yet, around my 16 birthday, I was ready for my Confirmation, which is optional. I almost didn't and my parents never forced me to, but eventually I chose to continue with what was needed to be more Christian. No one forces me to attend Mass nor to believe in God.
Everyone receives education from their parents: didn't they teach you manners? didn't they tell you once and again that you should be polite and never stand up from the table while eating? Did they brainwash you? I don't think so. If you receive a faith from your parents is because usually a religion also deals in children education and how they should be educated. If you're an atheist, and your kid asks you whether God exists and you say no, are you brainwashing them into no believe? I don't think so, either.
BTW, those who speak they're right and want to turn you a Christian, ain't real Christians either. I am and I don't care what you believe as long as you a re a good person. Pope JP2 used to respected what other people with different faith believe.

I don't think you can really brainwash someone unless they want to be. When people learn or hear things they can use their judgment and logic to sort out the parts that don't fit with them. I'm sure most Christians can be logical concerning what they have learned about Jesus/God & and the Bible. And then there are some who never use any logic, believe everything they hear and become fanatical. But being absolutly brainwashed sounds like a cop-out to me. It takes away the responsability for your own actions & words..."Oh I know I said God hates Homosexuals and my words really hurt a lot of people, but I was brainwahsed at the time"....that's not brainwashed that's flat out mean and ignorant.

I became a Christian because of the historical evidence presented in the Bible and the power of its teachings.
I read quite a few of the sacred texts (Tao Te Ching, Lotus Sutras, etc...) all before reading the Bible. Once I started reading the Bible I found all the same wisdom that was contained in those teachings but the Bible has so much more (Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Psalms, the teachings and Parables of Jesus, ect...).
I did not surender my life to Jesus Christ and my Father because I was brainwashed. I give my life to him everyday because of rational thought and evidence. How else could there be a Universe without a designer when everything in the Universe is obviously designed (DNA, atoms, etc...)
Some people do not know their reasons for faith and many people in church are dead in their faith. These are the people you refer to as brainwashed. I am not sure if you can call them Christians. Maybe just lost souls who need find their reasons for faith.
Proverbs 2:6 6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

I'm not quite sure what you infer by being brainwashed. But if you mean why do we, Christians, believe certain things and not other things, then I think I can answer that. Plus I don't have all the answers. A Christian's beliefs should be based upon the Bible, ie., no murder, no adultery, no idols, no lying. There may be extra Bible beliefs like for me, I can't wear a mustache or beard, because God told me so. But I can not condemn a man for doing so, even though I don't prefer it. Basically put all Christians are to held to the same point, if thy believe in the Bible, God's Holy Word. To do otherwise is to cut your nose off to spite your face!

That's what I think. The problem is that someone who is brainwashed will not even realise that, so they cannot tell you they are. But that's the only way to understand how a fantasy without proof has been going on for 20 centuries.

probably but so what?
If it brings them peace of mind and they are good citizens then its OK by me.
You could say alcohlics who go to A.A. are brainwashed, but I would imagine they needed their brains washing. And I am sure they would prefer to be brainwashed and sober than drunk sleeping on a park bench.
so to sum up, yes, but its a good thing to be brainwashed if the end result is positive and improves the persons life, and those around him.

In a sense, the Christians whom live by the Bible's teachings mainly found in the New Testament have because they're taught to "renew" their mind by immersing themselves in God's word.
I don't see how that could be a bad thing, as long as people don't overdo it like the group leader down in Waco, Texas a few years back.

The answer to your question is NO. Here's why> God gave us a free will to either believe in Him and go to heaven to be with Jesus and our loved ones that have gone on before us. And the free will also includes the fact that we don't have to accept Him and His Word, (the Bible)! Lets say just for curiosity sake that everything we Christians believe in isn't so, like you believe. I would rather except Jesus and His beliefs about the Word of God and go heaven when I die, or just go sleep in my grave, then to believe someone who doesn't believe in God and go and bust hell wide open where there are horrible things that await those who refuse Christ. Things not done by God but by the person who rejected Christ in the beginning.....Satan, a fallen angel. It is your choice, (free-will). Hope you choose Jesus, my friend. God Bless Your Decision!!!!

This applies to all religions - not just the christians!
The brainwashing starts when they are children - then, as they grow many are too terrified to get a grip and admit that they are wrong!
