My doctor gave me the OK at 6 weeks, but b/c I still had all those post partum emotions, and was nursing, I had absolutely NO desire for it whatsoever until about 4 months afterward !! And even then it hurt. Its almost like being a virgin again. That first time is NOT fun. The emotions of it were harder for me than the physical. I was physically ready at 6 weeks, but emotionally I wasn't good and "into it" until 6, 8 or even 10 months after birth... I really don't remember exactly, but it was a while.

I would recommend waiting the whole 4 - 6 weeks out. It's really just sex anyways. Your vagina is so sensitive during this time that waiting really is the smartest thing to do (I guess that's why doctors say to wait ;-) My doctor told me to wait 4 weeks after birth to have sex. I waited and everything was just fine. My best friend had sex 2 weeks after she had her daughter and she said that she was fine (I'm not sure though because she'll do anything for her pervert husband). Just listen to you body (and doctor) on this one. Have a great night!

I had an episotimy, so I had to wait 6 weeks (and even then, I didn't want to!). Just be careful - a friend of mine didn't wait 6 weeks and had unprotected sex (she was married, but had just had a baby and wasn't on any birth control due to nursing) and got pregnant right away.

I waited a few more weeks after the 6 week mark. One to make sure my birth control kicked in and another reason, I was scared to death to have sex because I was afraid it would hurt.

I didn't wait 6 weeks . We had sex 11 days after! As long as he isn't rough and you aren' sore or are almost healed I don't see a problem with it ! Just make sure you are on birth control !

Yes..it could do damage...you need time to heal properly. Your doctor will give you the "okay" when it's safe.
