Hello,
I have had my little bro for a couple days and notice he picks his nose a lot!
Sometimes it even bleeds! How do you get a little kid to stop picking his nose?!
This really is a serious question!
Thanks for your answers!

Serious answer: Get nasal spray and tissue for him. Tell him to take two squirts followed by a blowing of the nose. The saline solution will loosen up the dried mucous thus making it possible to remove without picking. The tissue is there for him to blow out the mucous when he loosens it up. It will look quite normal for him to do this. Because it looks like medical application followed by a normal blowing of the nose. The saline solution is 3 bucks at any pharmacy. Have some sympathy for him. Its possible he can't breathe through the nose without removing it.

They make stuff that you can put on his fingers that stinks, or makes his nose tingle (not hurt, but tingle in a funny way). If you make him think that you are washing his hands or something, so he doesn't no that that is what it is for, he will pick his nose, and after a couple of days he will realize that he does not like it. He will quite picking his nose as long as this stuff is there. So continuously put this on his fingers for several weeks so that he gets out of the habit.

Good Luck!

apparently a friend of mine told me constant nose picking like that is a lack of ink in the diet, but I don't know if it's true. The kid is bored give him something to do with his hands. Or offer a tissue

He's bored and now its a nervous habit which he probably don't realize he is doing it. Ask him if he is digging for treasures and hand him a tissue to make him aware he is doing it. If he eats it, ask him if he is hungry and maybe offer him some crackers. Bring it to his attention when he is doing it....The bleeding might be from a sinus infection or he scratched the inside with his fingernail. .......Good luck.

Tell him that if he keeps picking his nose that his nose will bleed and have an uncomfortable burning.

I heard that the bleeding part was true.

Inside everyone's nose lives a sharp-toothed snail
If you stick your finger up it, he may just bite your nail off.
If you stick it farther up inside, he may bite your ring off.
If you stick it all the way in, he may just bite the whole darn thing off!

Get him to wash his hands and help you by putting jalapenos in a bowl while you cut them up. He won't remember to wash his hands after, and later when he goes to pick his nose, surprise!

Every time you see him doing that:
1. tell him that it is disgusting
2. take him to the bathroom and have him blow his nose
3. tell him to wash his hands with soap and dry it
After a while he may get tire of washing his hands, he may stop picking or less often.
