By selecting the religious category, one can only presume you are referring to the finger in the "The Creation of Adam". This is the fresco on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, painted by Michelangelo Buonarroti circa 1511. It illustrates the Biblical story from the Book of Genesis in which God the Father breathes life into Adam, the first man. Also seen on the South Bank Show..?
