I am not sure if we should go to a prty island or if phuket has beach partys etc

I have not been to a full moon party but I believe that you have to be really careful because a lot of rapes and assaults occur.
I have been to Phuket and I am sure you would not be short of a party there! There are soooooo many bars and a lot of people willing to have fun.

Which part of Phuket are you going? If Patong beach, read on....
If you're expecting a party by the beach, Im not sure if Phuket has one. Maybe some of the hotels on the beachfront will organize their own party. Most hotels will have a NY's celebration one way or the other.
However, there will always be a street party on Bangla Rd. What we basically did was bar hop till we got drunk, and waited for the street fireworks. Locals will be selling all kinds of firecrackers on the street so if you wanna do that, better have cash at hand.

The hotels do have dinners and parties organised for guests over these 2 holidays and some are compulsory for the guests too. And it may cost between 1000-2500bahts a person for this, depending on the hotel that you are staying in.
I am sure the better parties will be in the better hotels around. So Phuket should be fun, plus you have the nice beaches and islands resorts to hang out in.
I will probably not advise the fullmoon party unless you have your own group.

You definitely CANNOT miss the full moon party in Ko Phan Ghan (I'm not sure of the spelling), Puket is very very nice but with like resorts and much more expensive, younger people that want to party usually prefer Ko Phan Ghan. If you get a chance go to the Perhentian Islands in Malaysia, especifically Long Beach, it is quieter but you will not regret it.
By the way I am soo jealous you're going! I wish I could go again too!! You will have the time of your life.

You will not be able to enjoy all the things going on party-wise. Things are happening 24/7. Great parties and events and the place is safe for women--as in any city in the world, don't go out alone or hang out in dark alleys late at night You will party hardy--until the cows come home. Have a fun trip.
