Many Christians believe in the "rapture." The rapture is supposed to be a moment when Christ returns and his followers are caught up to him in the sky in an instant.

Dear Bless,

I know that you are going to get alot of inaccurate answers to your question, so I thought to list the verses for you from the Bible:

1 Corinthians 15:51-53
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
John 6:39, 40
John 6:44, 54
John 12:48
John 5:28, 29
Luke 17: 28-36

The word "Rapture" is not found in the Bible but it is a term that refers to the "catching away" quickly of the saved (elect). The saved (elect) are also referred to as "saints", "sheep", and "children of God".
This event will take place when the Lord returns on the last day. The last day is also the end of the world and Judgment Day. This is where the Lord will separate His children from the servants of satan. The children of God will eternally be with the Lord in heaven while the unsaved will be judged and then cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15).
If you are not saved or sure that you are saved, continue to read the Bible and ask the Lord for mercy (Lamentations 3:26). Bless, the Lord is very merciful!! Remember what we read in Romans 10:17: "So then, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God." Faith is a synonym for Christ because He is the only One who is faithful. He is the essence of faith. So then, Christ cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. If the Lord is going to save you, it will be in the environment of "hearing the word of God. I hope this will help you. Plz see website below:

The Rapture is an event that a sect of Christians believe will happen prior to the second comming of Christ. All of those who are 'chosen' will be instantaniously transported to heaven leaving behind their clothes and everything. They will just vanish.

Sounds to me like a mass alien abduciton or a rash of spontaneous human combusiton.

What would happen if the rapture happened and the pilot and co-pilot of a plane full of passengers were both transported...that would kill a hundred people. Is God going to land the plane?

The rapture is when Christ comes back to Earth to gather all of His believers or people to go back to Heaven with Him.

The rapture is the Christian belief (held by mostly Protestant Christians) that before the world ends (End Times), Jesus will come back and take the living and dead who've believed in him to heaven with him.

More than one meaning. One is is the calling up of the Church at Christ's coming, the other is simply a great feeling of well being, such as the (rapture of the deep ) that divers experiemce whn they go too deep.

Darby.
Rapture 1830 was formulated

The story goes that a woman was sick and delirious, Darby was at her bed side, she rambled and WA la the Rapture doctrine is formed. Spread like wild fire.

Don't you believe it!

There is a time at the END when Christ returns to earth the set up his kingdom that the faithful will be transfigured and rise to meet him and descend back to earth with him.
BUT the rapture says you will fly away from the anti-Christ with Christ to heaven. BS!!!!
We are here to be tested

1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord Himself will come down from Heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage eachother with these words.
See chapter 5 about the times and dates( which are known only to GOD the FATHER).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Return of Christ to earth at the close of the tribulation
(Matt 24:27-31; Mark 13:24-27)
Luke 21:25 There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Men will faint from terror.....
.....27 At that time they will see the Son of Man comming in (on) a cloud with power and great glory.
When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.

Alot of people say That the rapture was from a society (the DARBY society ?). That they put together various versus of scripture to come up with the PAPTURE THEORY.
Many believe in the Rapture.
Others believe that CHRIST will only return ONE TIME and that is when he will seperate the GOOD from those who are EVIL throwing the evil ones to the LAKE OF FIRE, and the rest to ETERNAL GLORY/ PARADISE.
I believed in the RAPTURE for years, then I began to wonder if it was true or not.
I like to believe in the RAPTURE as it gives the Christians or the TRUE BELIEVERS in CHRIST ESCAPE from the devils wrath...
(However I look to the BIBLE and see for GENERATIONS GOD's people have always had to endure the trials....As we are to be tested, REFINED LIKE GOLD to become pure when He is finished with us.)
The other GREAT or WONDERFUL thing about the RAPTURE THEORY, is that Non- Believers, though it will be the MOST DIFFICULT TRIALS MAN HAS EVER FACED...
The non-believers will have a period of seven years,(the seven year TRIBULATION period) to come to GOD, to turn their Hearts and LIVES over to CHRIST who died on the CROSS that every soul may have eternal life in PARADISE.
I guess if there is no RAPTURE and the TRUE Believers are not called home to Heaven, or GOD's ARMY...Then when will the rest who, would be left behind, ever really know that GOD truly is in control of this world.
I mean if GOD takes the believers home, and the rest are left...I don't know it seems like a lot of theories would be going around...alien abduction, or some other hooplah, but then like in the LEFT BEHIND SERIES, there would be those who knew about the RAPTURE and create groups to call out to the others left behind, telling them now is there final chance to come to GOD.
Even though HE would harden the hearts of men who were left behind...

I suppose we all will / may , have to face THE SEVEN BOWLS of WRATH and the PLAGUES, HOWEVER THE TRUE BELIEVERS WILL HAVE THE mark or SEAL of GOD on their foreheads to protect them from the PLAGUES that are DESTINED to come upon the earth and all non-believers.
Hope that helped.

Since you got the mainstream answer, let me propose this one for you: The rapture is a belief that the Christians, who have done all they can to screw up the earth, and their fellow man, will be rescued from accountability by Jesus Christ's return. It is nonsense, but many of them believe it.

the word means to be caught up suddenly. it is what will happen in the first resurrection when the dead in Christ rise first and those who are alive in Him on earth are caught up and meet Him in the air in a twinkling of an eye to be kept from the hour of tribulation which will occur soon afterward. you don't want to be left behind to suffer during that hour. 1thes.4:15-17 God Bless.
