yes there is. It may not take the form of the normal picture of satan, but ive seen it. ONe incarnation, i believe, is meth. It is a tool of the devil. When selling it, and doing well at it, one starts out being money-hungry. Once you have the money, it turns into something else. Power-hungry. Before one knows it, they make decisions that they didn't think they would ever make. Someone owes money. Or someone steals a small amount, and a decision is made that it cant go unanswered or others might think they will get away with it.

The devil shows himself in places of solitude, like a home where a mother presses her daughter to do sex favors for drugs, and when asked why should i, responds"because im your mother, and blood is thicker than water" or invokes "honor thy mother and father" Manipulations, deceptions, spitefulness.

"The greatest trick the devil ever did, was convincing the world he doesn't exist"

I GUESS SHE ABANDONED HER IDEA

Why would I believe in a satan or a god? Because you have an old book that says so? When you look at the history of religions, you realize that they rise and then crumble over time. Your 'satan' is mearly a personification for you to hang the hatred and 'evil' that you see in the world. You just have to come to terms with the fact that these are mearly aspects of human character, as are love and kindness. Why is this so hard to believe?

Satan

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Considering your previous post about Flying Spaghetti Monster, and the intrinsic contempt for the bible, and my religious beliefs, I expect your concept to be one of contempt.

I dont like the things that I identify as extensions of my self, to be contempted. When I think about that sort of contempt, I dont want to answer questions like this.

It would be nice if there was a safe forum in which we could discuss our ideas without insulting or contempting others religious ideas. Im pretty sure that safe place ISNT Yahoo answers.

I think Satan is a literary personification. Much like the figure of Wisdom in the book of Proverbs.

I don't believe in Satan, except that he is a representation of Evil, which I do believe exists.

If there is a God, there must be a Satan as well. How else could this world get so mixed up?
