Your cat is definitely trying to tell you something. That is that this person cannot be trusted. Maybe he has kicked your cat, or tried to, or done some other unkind act, but when a cat says "no way, man", believe him! But a word of warning; be very tactful when talking to your roommate about this, as she may prefer her boyfriend to your cat!

Hi, Usually cats have some sort of sixth sense about such things, if he is running away, which should mean a few things.
1. Either meeting someone new.
2. Your friends B/F is giving off some sort of vibe that the cat doesn't like
3. Or your cat think he is bad news...
All this is a guess. I have cats. and i know the feeling of them running away when certain people are around.
Good luck, Peace be with you.

if your cats comes up to everyone else right away when they come over (even new people) and not him, then either he might have done something to the cat while you weren't around, or the cat is getting a bad vibe that maybe your friend's BF doesn't like him (cats).

It means you need to protect the cat from this human. There is a reason for the cats behavior. To bad the kitty can't talk.
Don't give the guy the benefit of the doubt. It could mean the life of your cat,so why not move.

So it is not just because of the bf's being male? Sometimes a cat has been abused by a male and will be comfortable with human females and not human males.

Well, I think the cat probably has good reason to! Not to offend you or your housemate, but either her boyfriend has done something mean to the cat, or the cat has had bad experiences with people like him.

if a cat suddenly acts out of character - watch out as they are very good at picking up things about people who appear charming to us
when i used to have lodgers i always introduced prospective people to the cats - and watched the cats reactions to the people - they never let me down! anyone the cats liked were nice to live with and of good character. one chappie the cats didnt like even tho he hadnt done anything to them at all - he didnt get the room (he did give me the creeps anyway)

Just what did friend's b/f do to the cat? It's plainly obvious by the cat's behavior that there was probably something abusive done to it by this one person.
