This is through getting herself into money difficulties, and not being able to pay. She has two kids, and the electric board have said it will be a week before she's put back on.
Now she has imposed herself upon me, and moved in for a few days.
Who reckons I should put up the 2 man tent out the back garden for her?
It has been raining, but there is a ground sheet and two very good sleeping bags (one of the boys will have to use my daughter's princess sack). Also there is a full cooking set, a solid fuel camping stove and spare batteries for the lantern.
Wht would you do? : [)

My sister had great fun listening to all the sarcastic replies I read out to her for my question. Keep 'em coming.
Quick, before she has to come in and turn on the cold water, for her shower with the hose in the garden!

It is so awful to be poor. More and more people are have great difficulties paying for the high cost of Utilities. It is good you help your sister for a few days. But why can't she just stay at her own place and use a lantern of something else at night ? My son had that happen to him and he used flashlights, and a lantern to get by with until the lights were turned back on. At least she could be in her own place. Good grief, why would you have your sister and her two kids sleep out in a tent? It would be better then for them to stay in a dark home. If it has been raining , it would'nt be good for the kids to sleep in a tent. Why can't you let them stay in your home ? Even if they slept on the floor of your house it would be better then a damp tent. Would she treat you in the same way ? What if it was you ? Tell your sister, from me, that she should borrow your battery lantern and stay in her own home. At least the children would not feel belittled. Invite her into your home for a week. Or could she go to her Mothers ? Just don't put them in a tent !!!

You seem to have come into some criticism from a lot of posters, bugaboo, but I tend to agree with Norskeyenta. Why can't your sister stay at her own home and you loan her items from your camping equipment. I'm sure that she'd feel safer, drier, and warmer for doing that.
My own sister is not good with handling finances. She has baby after baby, whose father pays little towards their upkeep. He claims money from our Social Security for the rent of the property (which he owns) to my sister and her children.
Sadly, after being fostered as a youngster, she had the best family upbringing but has thrown it all away.
Don't feel guilty about not doing more. I think you're offering your sister enough support with what you are doing. She has to learn to fend for herself. She's not a little girl anymore.

You are her sister? I'm just wondering because if it were my sister and I knew it was for a short time I would just let her stay with me. And not in a tent. What kind of hard-hearted harridan are you? Right now it is her troubles but next time it might be your troubles and you going to her asking for help. Think about it.

if that is what you are going to do for her then she might as well stay at her house at least that way they have there own beds and are not in the rain. show a little bit of remorse for your sister we all make mistakes and need a little bit of help every now and then. grow up
