The Wetherspoons lodges are very cheap if you want basic but the bonus is there's a pub next door !
Also Premier lodges...slightly more expensive...better rooms.
Try 4hotels too...they have squillions of hotels, B&B etc from country cottage to city centre hotels

You would be really surprised what deals you can get for a weekend break at a 4 star hotel, one of our best finds was The Croydon park hotel. esp good if you have a family, as it includes a full English breakfast and has a leisure pool.

You pick the location - it's pretty good at finding a cheap yet reasonable hotel.
Seach by price and pick ahotel rating of more than 2. Works for me.
