Sometimes "equal rights" is really just "similar rights." Plus, we really have some long-standing *traditions* we, as a society, can't seem to overcome.

Hair length -- try getting a job as a long-haired male. HA! However, if you're female, hair length is essentially a non-issue. Sure, it's supposed to look "professional," but many people don't really care if women if have long hair. But guys can't, yet there seems to be nothing sexually discriminatory about that. Hell, even in the MILITARY, women generally don't have to have their hair cut as short as do the guys.

Pay -- well, I don't need to go into detail on this since we all already know women get the short end of the stick.

Glass ceilings -- despite the celebration of diversity, I also think we're all fully aware that most companies are probably run by old white guys. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

And those are only a few.....

When they made the law for the draft, it was due to war. Back in the "good-old-boy" days, the government sent the men to fight in war and the women to stay at home.

Women were allowed to be nurses and help work in factories. It was unheard of a woman going to war and being in the front line. Have you ever noticed movies about war, there is never a woman battling with the men?

Times are changing, and I believe so should the law. I come from a family with extensive military backgrounds. I have a lot of respect for anyone who serves their country. Some women might want to say "thank goodness I don't have to be drafted." But some of those same women want to be equally treated to a man.

I am no feminist and I do not believe that a woman is weaker than a man. I have always believed that what's fair is fair, and that everyone should be treated equally in all aspects.

The selective service system (which is still in place and can be operational within 90 days)has no plans to draft women. the reason is that draftees are basically needed to serve as infantry replacements. That is where the largest number of them would go. since women are excluded from infantry combat roles, they are not needed. There has been much trial and eror with women in combat in the last century and basically most are unable to perform the duties of front line soldiers, and women in a mixed unit would break up the unit cohesion. its all been studied at length and it will never happen in this country. also women in the israeli army never perfprm combat roles

Because you're a man.

Hear this:

I want my army to be the best in the world. I will not tolerate defeat or inefficiency. For that to happen I must have all my soldiers to be exactly the same. I don't care what they are, so long as they are the same. All black, all white, all men, all women, I don't care which, but only one. They should all be the same height, weight and strength. That's impossible, isn't it?

You see, If you eliminate all possibilities for conflict, confusion, stress or any other incompatibility, I will have the best army in the world. The battle field is no place to figure out whether your platoon leader is a racist or gay...you have to fight and win. I'm a taxpayer and that's all I care about.

I want my army to be like ants, all the same, no internal conflicts. It's good for the soldiers, it's good for me.

I apologize for the rant...it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Because women have a brain half the size of a man and therefore they cannot think for themselves or make educated decisions. At least that is what people used to think. Its because the law hasn't been changed prior to the women's movement and women's liberation. Who cares anyway. Its not like the draft is in effect.

cuz women are not needed in the military... sorry for the libers out there but they are an absolute waste of pay and a distraction... I knew one WM who was a good worker the rest flirted with Gunny and went to the px all the time. They are more trouble then they are worth. Separate training, separate billeting, and sexual harassment. And what do we get in return? A non-deployable morale booster (not all wms are this way but most like 96 percent are) Women need to stay out of the military .

Because women want to be equal only when it suits them. Oh this box is heavy, I'm a girl. I retired early from the military cause of that garbage. And God help ya if you get on their case, they make up a seduction scene that would do linda lovelace proud and you are guilty til proven innocent.
