The only way to get over being depressed is to go see a psychiatrist or your physician. Usually your physician can prescribe medication to help you. If you truly want to get well and have fun in life, you have to take the first step. Please talk to your doctor and get help.

You can't isolate a cause, so there probably is no cause, other than just chemical imbalance. You don't talk about mania, so it is regular depression, not "manic depression". You don't want to go to counselling for whatever reason. That leaves only two options to improve your life: medication (easy and usually works), and lifestyle changes (really really hard and often works). Lifestyle changes would involve regular exercise, healthy diet, good sleeping patterns, not drinking or doing drugs.
Also, depression is very common during teenage years. Mostly it goes away when you get to adulthood. I know that doesn't make you feel better right now but at least it's light at the end of the tunnel. My suggestion is to get on anti-depressants. Your mum needs to realise that she's not going to talk you out of your illness.

See a physician first..you may suffer from clinical depression which can be controlled by medications. And reconsider counselling, please..I'm bipolar and without the medications and the therapy I would be dead by now. It helps to have someone objective to talk to. There is no shame in the diagnosis of depression. Many people suffer from it, as do many from other illnesses, such as diabetes. It's not your fault, it's a chemical imbalance in your brain. Good luck.

I have episodes of both"'manic"'days when I feel like I am superwoman, other days I just wanna cry and cry cause I get depressed for no reasons. But there are some daays I go from happy to mad foor no reason also. You need to talk to a doctor too get the correct diagnosis though.

You should go see someone. Trust me. I have been diagnosed with manic depression and you need to go see someone. It's not worth not doing so. I'm on 3 different medications also. Go see a doctor and they might be able to help. Trust me, these things help.

May enjoy finding out a bit about yourself, if you would go to Google groups and look for "Power of the Mind." May find the answer there.

Feelings that your life is reduced to the worst you could be, is depression. Don't believe everything you think.
