Perhaps your ear resembles the genitalia of a nice, attractive female parrot?

Some parrots are fascinated by anything that looks like a hole or cavity. For example, some will peek a long time through the cardboard core of a roll of paper towel or toilet paper. Your parrot might just be exploring an interesting and curious hole. I have a couple birds that are always rooting around in my ear.

What your parrot is actually doing is preening you. "Preening" is cleaning of the feathers. They also help their friends break open the new feathers when they are molting (growing new feathers) by cracking open the little cases containing the actual feather. This material is called keratin...not unlike the material that makes up your fingernails. It looks like the end of a shoelace. Since you have no feathers, your bird will preen your hair or beard if you are a man. It is a bonding thing. You are his friend and his flock, so he is showing you his affection by helping you clean your "feathers".
A bird cannot preen their own heads, since their beak cannot reach the head...the beak is on the head. Therefore it is the responsibility of their mate to assist them with looking after these hard to reach feathers. He loves you and he wants to show you by helping you with your"feathers".

Birds like to taste things and feel the texture of different objects. Be careful it doesn't take a bite though! Good luck!
