More nonsense about Canada and Mexico being part of N. America and now they are saying the same thing about central and South Americans too. As long as I live, America and American will always mean United States. The America Haters (plenty of U.S. based ones and you know who you are) enjoy finding obnoxious new ways to dig at us, ignore the weasels, we're Americans.

I've never heard that term before, maybe its because you live in the United States and not America as a generic place.

It's a concept. I am an American from the United States of America. I don't worry about what people want to call themselves; I deal with what they wish to call me.

In my opinion the term "American" has (at least) two meanings. We refer to ourselves as American meaning citizen of the USA. The other more broad meaning is someone from the Continent of North, South, or Central America. Yes, they are all "American", but it is really a different meaning of the same word.

I'm not following... are you asking us, "United Statesians?"
Or implying that someone called us, "United Statesians?"
Please clarify... thank you...

Don't worry about it.
Even the term 'United States' begs the question "United States of WHAT?"
United States of Mexico is referred to as 'Mexico' and our country is 'America'. Note that there is NO continent named 'America.'

Okay, then. I did used to hear people trying to speak English add the suffix "ate" and "ation" onto everything. Maybe they're trying to say "United Stations?" lol
