What a loaded question! No, abortion would never be considered a simple, human right in American society; perhaps in other countries that do not subscribe to traditional Christian values. I suppose the recent trends in America should remind you that abortion-on-demand is in serious trouble, just as acceptance of homosexual "rights" are in trouble. I'm amused at the simplicity in which you asked the question, almost as if you were expecting a congregation of supporters to come to the side of a woman who advocates abortion.

Men have no legal rights over their unborn's life, but they have a moral obligation to defend their kids from harm when it is possible to do so. That is what a real man does whether their son or daughter is born or not.
A man has a right to try to defend the murder of his unborn child, even if that murderer is the unborns own mother.
The right to life is the most basic and fundamental of all rights. It is the one right that, when taken away, all other rights can eventually be denied.
The question itself throws out the concept that parenthood requires a man and a woman. It is the irrevocable love between a man and a woman that is the foundation of societies.
The question suggests unisexism, a false philosophy that confuses the numerous differences between sexes as "unequal".
Mutual submission and complimentarity is about healthy families and societies, and has nothing to do with being "unequal".
There is nothing "unequal" about mutual submission and complimentarity.

I think eventually, once religion becomes less common and strict, abortions will be considered a human right.
Really, people who are anti-choice should donate their time to help starving and displaced populations in Africa rather than yell and scream at a anti-abortion rally.
I don't support killing children, but I don't think adoption is really an option in countries like ours where foster care is already in such a horrible state. If people were willing to adopt the crack-babies and the other unwanted children, then abortion wouldn't be necessary.

Oh, dear. That's a question worth wondering about, but then again, my question to the working class has always been,
"If men were to actually get periods, do you think we'd still be required to work four weeks out of the month, or only three?" Guess what, we have a 120 hour paycheck. So, if men got pregnant, abortion would be just as acceptable as birth.

THEN it would be an issue because they would expect the women to do everything FOR them. We do everything anyway. I know i am capable and have done so. I had my son in February 20th. I had a planned c section. I came home, and my husband had done his best to keep it clean but our 2 year old is a Tornado, so it was messy again. The first thing I did when I walked into the house with the new baby was to clean it up. I had some nice painkillers (vicadin) so I was feeling pretty good. When a man has a headache, he needs to lay down and take off. THey act like big babies. Women have pneumonia, the flu, you name it they could have it and STILL do everything.

The problem is not about abortion being a human right. Regardless of who gets pregnant, the most helpless among us deserve our protection.
The best way to prevent unwanted pregnancy is to remain chaste until marriage. It's 100% effective, and you don't need a doctor to help you along. Just willpower.

Hah, good one.
Seems to me all children are blessings though.
God wouldn't give a person a child that wasn't able to be a parent.
Sometimes you don't know what you are capable of until you are pushed.
It would be nice if humanity treasured the gift of life, instead of judging the mother.
Strength is an illusion of power.
Power is an illusion of being "right".
Tangible is temporary.

WOW! what a question! I'd like to see if men who feel women should't get abortions or hold grudges on ex's that did would still feel the same if their life was tottally redirected by having to sacrifice everything to devote yourself to a helplesschild who needs you constantly to care for and protect them.

Sadly, enough men have a self-loathing of themseves. When they get a woman pregnant, they fear bringing in another looser into the world, and then bully the woman into an abortion.
Unless pregancy alters hormones to rid the self- loathing, well, the self-loathing men would probably abort all babies.

Good point. I think the idea of it would be as standard as breathing. Of course men would declare it a basic right. The pill would be covered by every insurance plan and programs like WIC and welfare would actually really help.
