Each child is different, he will know them buy the end of kindergarten. Maybe due another year of preschool, perhaps a famtastic 5's class. In the big picture when he is 30 it will no matter if he knew them at 3 or at 6. Just enjoy him and let him be a kid, they grow up to quickly. Do work on them, just not a lot of pressure.

like make a game out of it. Have like flash card type 2 of each number but lay them face up and give him the number 1 and tell him to find the number 1 laying on the table. And dont give him just the number put like a circle on it like 1 circle for 1 2 circles for 2. And for letters write them down and go over it a few times with him and see if he can say them back and then once he does that u can mix or cover the letters up and have him try to figure it out. If you do it every day I would say 2 or 3 weeks.. but dont do the numbers and then the letters right after each other like take a break in between.

Make a song will make learning fun. I had to do this sort of thing with my daughter. Now she is in the first grade and needs to know 0-100 and be able to count that high. It has been a challenge so far. Offer a reward if he can remember them, and tell you them. When my daughter learned her ABC's and numbers 1-10, she got a new bike, this was before she started kindergarten.

In order to prepare your child for reading you should try teaching him letter sounds rather then the alphabet which really doesn't mean that much. It is also important that your child learns the correlation between the quantity and the number symbol for math. Give him as long at it takes.

A resounding YES! He should pick up on it quickly.
Make sure he knows the "meaning" of the letters and numbers as opposed to being just words in the song.

try it out see if it'll work. I used on my brother and it worked fine.

We sing EVERYTHING in our preschool room. We make up silly songs about whatever we are trying to teach. It makes it more fun and more memorable for the children. We usually sing it once in the morning and once in the evening, more if they are really interested.
