Put a whole clove on your tooth with some gauze on top & clamp down gently. Cloves are the basic ingredient in toothache meds. Try some advil or motrin for the pain. If it gets too painful, you may need to see a dentist for a filling or extraction. However, some toothaches are causes by swollen sinuses (pressure) and not the tooth at all - consider cold medicine if your upper back teeth hurt. Good luck !!

Sugar free gum with Xytol in it.

Rinse out your mouth with warm salty water. Make sure to swish it around the cavity. Chew the sugar free gum and then stick it over the tooth with the cavity in it. Push the gum into the hole. The water makes sure you don't have any food stuck in the cavity and the gum acts like a bandage. It keeps any food out and when you breathe in it keeps the cool air off the cavity.

If you can directly access the cavity then you could use some clove oil or some Neosporin with pain relief (it has Novocain in it), before you use the gum bandage.

Then call a dentist and schedule an appointment as soon as possible. This is a temporary fix at best.

Vanilla extract ( it numbs the pain temporarily ) Cotton in your ear on the side it hurts ( it helps keep the air off the teeth that could aggravate your teeth more. Look for this stuff called DenTek ( you can find it at walmart or walgreens in the tooth aisle) it's a temporary filling that looks like a little block of silly putty. Put it over the tooth and it hardens until you can talk care of it. Hope it helps.

When i had braces, i found that using some brandy or whisky as a mouthwash kind of thing worked well. Try taking a mouth full, swirling it around in your mouth and then just spitting it out. Numbed all my pain!
