I think it's SAD that so LITTLE VALUE is placed on a HUMAN LIFE, as to allow KILLING it just by swallowing a pill : (
This makes ABORTION WAY TOO CONVENIENT,
and will surely promote even more SLUTTY sexual activity, since those with LOW MORALS will think there are minimal negative consequences (NO GUILT ???). They will just consider it another form of birth control, when in fact it is actually TERMINATING A NEW LIFE !
Please give feedback on why you agree or disagree.

notice how most that disagree, feel the need to ATTACK ME personally with INSULTS (butt out moron, lonely soap box judging, braincells on vacation, selective memory, etc.) ........ just shows the weakness of their viewpoint

Well i for one think you are correct. what all this means is all these teenagers can now have sex freely and just run to the store to buy a pill. there has got to be another way to stop the underage sexually activity than this.

Differences between the morning-after pill and the abortion pill, which are different drugs:
The morning-after pill prevents pregnancy but has no effect if a woman already is pregnant. Sold under the brand name Plan B, it's a higher-than-normal dose of a hormone found in regular birth-control pills and prevents ovulation or fertilization of an egg. It also may prevent the egg from implanting into the uterus, the medical definition of pregnancy, but recent research suggests that's not likely.
The abortion pill, RU-486 or Mifeprex, can terminate pregnancy up to 49 days after the beginning of the last menstrual cycle. It's a two-pill process. First is Mifeprex, which blocks production of a hormone required to sustain pregnancy. Then a second medicine, misoprostol, to cause contractions and finish the abortion.
The morning after pill is not abortion, I think you are getting it mixed up with the Mifeprex pill. It takes time for the embryo to actually be concieved. The morning after pill prevents the sperm from ever coming into contact with the egg at all. If it never comes into contact, there is no life.
I don't believe that women should use this as a regular form of birth control, however. It is dangerous, because the pill has an extremely high dose of hormones, and it does not protect against STDs.

i would disagree with you opinion based on terminate a new life, because during this progress blooding is forming, not a life is form yet. Of course trying to find the best way to solve the problem rather than abortion is great. i think aborting after 3 months is guilt because you can actually feel and see the whole develope baby. It is the women choice to keep the baby or not..but of course you have to take action for what happen. The best way is if it did hapen, think of ways to support that baby. If you are coming to an dean end like no support from parents, your man is an a$$hole, you are still in school and have no money, than the pill should be used.
Of course what you decide to do, think of the side effects in the future and how you will go on with your life in the future!

It's sad that people don't play a bit carefully when they start doing these things. True we as females lost our estrus cycle so we could have sex as pleasure, not just driven by biological need. But we also evolved to be capable of higher levels of thought so that we could control the whims of our bodies.
However the pill is still a good idea.
You want to talk about valuing life - how about valuing the life around you? When was the last time you invited a homeless person into your home for at least a meal? What about the family who struggles to make ends meet in a third world country - donate anything to help them out recently? How about the old neighbor who can't drive but still needs to get the store and to the doctors, you offer to drive them to these places?
Start valuing the life that already exists and we will see this world improve a lot.

the morning after pill is not abortion i think this is a good idea this will keep the abortion rate down. and yes i think u should be responsible for Ur actions but then again some cannot provide what every child deserves!! i am 19 years old and 22 wks pregnant i was obviously having unprotected sex and trust me i have fallen deeply in love with the fact that god has chosen me to be a mother and I'm doing all the right steps to get there i will be married in 2 wks and im happily in love with my fiance/babys daddy/boyfriend but still i feel my child deserves a home and everything happy but unfortunately im 19 and he is to so we cannot provide the way we would like to but we can try really all im saying is maybe this will lower the rates of teen pregnancy and help better the lives of newborns the parents would be ready and actually its not TERMINATING A NEW LIFE! its called planning the right time BIRTH CONTROL!!!

the morning after pill does not induce abortions, it prevents ovulation and fertilization. you are not terminating a life, you are keeping it from being initiated.
as far as encouraging sluttiness, i do not agree with you. do you think that someone is going to not have sex because they might get pregnant, or that this person feels so much safer if this is a fear that all of a sudden they will have sex? and more than that, do you really want these types of people reproducing and creating more little sluts? Do you really think that the resulting kids are going to be any better than the parents? How many more of these mouths do i have to feed by working hard and paying my taxes?
i am not for abortion, but i am for population control.

I think you should jump off the moral high road personally. I'd be interseted to hear your reasoning behind it promoting slutty behaviour - in doing which, by the way, you have singled out the role of the woman in all of this. As far as I'm aware it takes two to tango and preventing pregnancy is the responsibility of both partners.
Like most people with those views you have just made generalisations and assumptions based on opinion rather than actual fact. It has been non-prescription here for ages and we as a society didn't suddenly become choked with promiscuous girls and irresponsible men. It is still very expensive to buy and hardly a viable alternative to other contraception methods which are much cheaper so I disagree with you there too.
Maybe educating people as to the necessity of contraception is a better idea than judging them for preventing something they don't want.

I myself , am against abortions for birth control. However, i think the morning after pill is a good thing to have...you can only take the pill up to 5 days after sex. ..technicaly, that truelly isnt a baby yet, because it takes up to around 9 days or so to attach to the uterine wall.. which in turn has not started to grow yet. it's only cells. i think teens should use condems with bc pills. but if they would just use a condemn and it broke, yes i think that, that pill would be a nice thing to have around, versus getting an abortion and actually killing a baby(fetus)...to me thier the same. A life. they need to take the pill accordingly, the next day,not wait till they have missed a period.by then, it's more than cells, it's a growing baby.

My, but your braincells are on vacation, aren't they?
The morning-after pill IS NOT the same as the abortion pill (which is called RU-486). The morning-after pill contains the same chemicals that are in birth control pills. But I wouldn't put it past someone of your intelligence to be against bcp, too... The morning-after pill merely keeps an egg from attaching itself to the uterine wall. It doesn't 'kill' anything, sweetheart.

I am all for people having a choice. I think its wonderful that it's available. Not everybody believes that life begins at the same time, and I do not want to see any religious beliefs legislated. God gave each of us a free will and an intellect with which to make decisions. It's a shame you think that sex is slutty.
