Ah...you do know the meaning of the word "tithe", don't you? It means one tenth. The Old Testament says we are to "Bring all the tithes into the storehouse." Once you know the meaning of the word, the commandment is clear. God says bring one-tenth to me.
Just in case you think that was all done away with in the New Testament, remember what Jesus taught. He said love and service were important, but tithes should not be left undone.

Tithe means 10%. You are not to pay 10% of tithes. You are to give back to God 10% of everything He has given you, not out of duty or because it is the law, but out of a thankful heart for what Jesus Christ has done for us by setting us free from sin.
Old Testament-Genesis 14:20, 28:22, Leviticus 27:30, Numbers 18:26-32, Deuteronomy 14:22-29,
New Testament-2 Corinthians 9:6-15
I suggest buying a Holy Bible with a concordance in it. They are fantastic for looking things like this up!

Gen 14(18-20) It basically states that Abraham gave tithes to Melchizedek of one-tenth of all he possessed. We being followers of the law of Abraham as given by God do the same.
There is also modern day revelation in my Church on this subject it says:
Doctrine and Covenants 120:4
And after that, those who have thus been tithed shall pay one tenth of all their interest annually; and this shall be a standing law unto them forever, for my holy priesthood, saith the Lord.

Leviticus 27:30-32 (New International Version)
30 " 'A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD. 31 If a man redeems any of his tithe, he must add a fifth of the value to it. 32 The entire tithe of the herd and flock—every tenth animal that passes under the shepherd's rod—will be holy to the LORD.

Num 18:26 Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, [even] a tenth [part] of the tithe.
Says it right there.
