Iraq will supposably have "full control" over Iraq by the end of this year. I predict the U.S. military will be gone (unless a permenent base is put in Iraq) at the end of 2008. Already the number of car bombs have been greatly reduced, the police stations are no longer being raided sucessfully and recently a host of enemy leaders have been captured. Not only that, the enemy has been reduced to fighting in 3 cities in a country the size of California.

I think that we will stay and try to fix the problems in Iraq. I hope that we can fix the problems. If we can't, Iraq will be just like Afghanistan was. The problem is the Middle East will result in either the whole world speaking Arabic, or the Middle East beaten to a pulp like Europe was after World War II, but unlike Europe which had a fairly well educated population, the only thing the Middle East has is oil.
The Middle East used to the center of learning and culture, but now it is only the center of a religion that seems to be turning more fanatical every day. Hopefully the people will wake up and quit blaming the West for all of their problems.

We better not if we know whats good for us.
Whether or not your agreed with the reason for going to war or agree with the war now or not the worst thing we could do would be to withdraw. Not only would we leave Iraq wide open for radical Islamist to take control it would destroy the moral and will of our country and it's military much as withdrawing from Vietnam did in the early 70's. The Free countries of the world would lose faith in our ability to stick it out, seeing that all it takes to make America cut and run is to kill a few Americans (ie. Beriut & Somalia) and those who wish to do us harm will become emboldened knowing that our Achilies Heel is our lack of willpower to stand firm in the face of difficulties and Americans dying.
If we cut and run you dishonor those how have sacrificied their lives for the hope of a free and democratic Iraq.

We can not cut and run. Although I'm against the war and have been from the beginning, we need to stay and finish what we started or face a much worse situation down the road. We have already lost face in the world community, leaving now would cause someone else to clean up our mess. There is no coalition, never has been.

I would say that cutting in running is the equivelent of calling a tied man a "P$ssy" for walking away from a fight with someone with a gun. We can't win unless we fight on their level, Old testament style, salting the earth as we pass. if the country is a hotbed for terrorists (which it is becoming with the deterioration of all forces there and the influx of terrorism) that shouldn't be a problem. Probly 60 percent of the Sunni Triangle is a combatant or logistic provider in some way. Fighting this war this way... you bet your *** we are going to pull a Vietnam and be in economic shambles for years because of it (we recovered from Vietnam during Clinton's admin.

I hope not as one more listening to the "people" & showing the United States to be unwilling to commit & win a war makes us vunerable to other nations esp. Russia & China. The "people" dicatated the run from Vietnam & Korea. 3 strikes & with nuclear weapons we could all be out.
Bush will not be seen as losing the United States will. The military can not be run by poular vote - average people do not have the intelligence reports that the leaders have.

I agree 100% with "rgbear".
I'm against the war too, but it's too late to back off. Just think about it. The US ain't safe right now, what makes you think it will be safer if we leave Iraq? It will probably be worst because they won't be scared of us since we left. That will give terrorist more POWER. Do you people really want those terrorist to feel good about themselves?

In 1940 ,90% of Americans were against going to war, in 1943 60% of Americans thouhg the war was a bad idea. In historical perspestive, unless you want to forced to be a musslim and really want it bad for all of us I say we ride the course. This is WWIII.

No. But we will make plans to make a dignified and orderely and honorable exit. Apologies and all. That won't be easy if the financial means are all tied up together. Then we have more responsibilties these 'people' got us into.
Not only do you get financial debt in a war, you have the spiritual debt, too.

first of all, the term cut and run, is just a phrase created by the administration, its a form of controlling all of their religious lemmings who will follow them to the gates of hell, for some unknown reason. secondly, nobody really wants to leave, it was our reasons for going in, the kindergarten style strategy we employed, our imperialist nature, our lack of respect for other cultures etc, that makes us hate bush, and want to get out of iraq, but not at the risk of doing further damage to the US. if we left now, we have created ten times the terrorist, and you could expect ten mor 911s. so we are between a rock and a hard place on this one.
