Hey Folks, My little cats (6months old) was stung today by a wasp. This was a few hours ago now. Her little leg has swollen up but she is still plodding about... i put a little warm water and vinegar in a bowl and bathed her little paw. Does anyone have any advice? Is there anything else i should do?? Your help will be much appreciated :o)

thanks folks, i called the 24hr vet for advice. She said the vinegar and water was the way to go... if the swelling has not went down by morning i've to take her along to the vet for a anti inflamatory injection. Thank you all for you responses, it was much appreciated. Hope this may help anyone else in the same boat in the future.. Cheers guys :o)

Whatever you do, dont use any "human" disinfectants or medication; aspirin and its derivatived will kill cats. Keep bathing her paw, and if it hasnt gone down to normal size by morning, take her to see a vet. Water and vinegar is absolutely the right thing to use. Hope she is well by morning.

I would continue with what your doing and then phone the vet in the morning for advice. they may suggest that you take her in, but could quite possible say just to carry on with what you doing. same thing happend with my cat and she was fine after abit of bathing! but I would phone vet to make sure.

My dog had one a couple of years ago on his lip - he likes to chase flies, this didn't stop him.
I removed the sting with a pair of tweezers and gave him a piriton, he was fine in a few hours.

Did you remove ALL of the stinger?? You have to make sure it is all removed. You probley should just take her to a vet because wasps do have venom and she could become very ill.

Give her childrens Benedryl. I think it is 1 mg per pound of weight. Call the vet to ask about the doseage to be sure. Sorry to hear about your cat. Poor thing :(
