I believe in God.
I believe in Jesus.

I also believe in Evolution Theory.
I believe that SPECIATION is the reason why their is diversity among members of the human sub-species: Blacks, Whites, Asians Mongoloids, Oriental variations between Japanese, Chinese, Koreans, etc.
I believe gene mutations and natural selection have also aided in species diversity

I think people who make it seem as if A Person must believe in everything the Bible says OR believe in Evolution are RETARDED and closed minded.

Most of the stories in the bible such as Adam and Eve and the creation story are PARABLES. Jesus used parables to teach his followers a theme - not to force a belief on them. Jesus never FORCED anyone to follow him...he merely presented them with faith.

Many people argue that Evolution is junk science because it can't be proven in a lab...(it would take millions of years).
WELL GUESS WHAT...YOU CAN'T PROVE GOD EXISTS EITHER !!!

I don't believe that EVOLUTION and belief in GOD can't coexist.
Forcing an EITHER, OR choice is just another example of how neoconservatives and right wing christians present the American people with TOTALITARIAN ABSOLUTES.

Just like when they say: "If you don't like America leave" to Mexicans.

Native American Indians and they were colonized to be spanish speaking... THEY were here FIRST ... the White European indentured servants and colonizers didn't come to the Americas till much later.
Just another example of the White/European man imposing beliefs on others and destroying culture.

One of the major problems I have with this subject is that American media that does push Christianity -teaches that Jesus was a white man - which is one of the most Blatant lies ever perpetuated - especially considering he was an ARAMAIC speaking Jew - living in a region where WHITE people would get tanned into Blackness simply because of the sun and heat. Jesus was most likely an arab looking man.

American media pushes a "white jesus" and indocrinates children at a young age to believe that even in the face of their inherited religions.
THAT IS MY PROBLEM.

Also keep in mind that GOD DID NOT WRITE THE BIBLE.
The bible was written by men within the past 1400 years and most of it was designed by King's to maintain control over their subjects.
SUBJUGATING THEM.

Very true on all points.

Infact, the vatican has made several statements asserting the strength of evolution. It has also stated that christtian beliefs and evolution do not have to be mutually exclusive.

Many moderate christians can accept both without conflicts, as you demonstrate.

To WiseGuy:

You are a moron. Evolution has no explanation for the creation of earth. That is planetary cosmology and geology. Using evolution to explain the formation of the earth is like using nuclear decay to explain a heart attack.

If the earth and by extension the universe is less then 30,000 years old, why do we see light from galaxies millions of light years from earth?

The only people who are forcing a choice are Christians. Those of use who are agnostic or atheist, Buddhist or Hindu don't really have a problem. I don't really care what your personal beliefs are, just don't try and undermine education and science.
And undermining education and science is exactly what the Christians are trying to do. Read the wedge document from the discovery institute for a start.
The only reason I have any interest in religion at all is due to the fact that their has been a effort on the part of the right wing christian fundamentalist to attack evolution and cast doubt in the minds of the everyday citizen.
Those that would claim that evolution is junk science do not know what they are talking about. Over 99.9% of the scientific community world-wide accept evolution. The few wacko jobs that don't are in the U.S. and are very vocal in casting doubt.
I suggest that anyone who doubts this do some research on their own, and look at many different sources.
Wise guy. "Halo" has been debunked years ago. In fact it was debunk immediatly after it was proposed do you research bozo.
And your other link is form a creationist web site! Do you understand Peer-reviewed???
Intelligent design is psudo-science and has been debunked...again it is not science.
Dood...your another moron. Where do you get you information??? Do you even know what a theory is???
Heres a hint:
A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena
Wise guy: You are an idiot! Carbon dating is only used for dating things that are a couple of thousand years old. Again you don't know what you talking about

I agree with you, it shouldn't be an all or nothing proposition. I am agnostic but if evolution were disproved tomorrow it wouldn't necessarily mean for me that the Biblical creation story was the true literal account of how we got here. Evolution is not the basis of either my belief or disbelief in a higher power. I think this is only a real issue for fundamentalists who interpret everything from the Bible literally. Something having done some Biblical scholarship myself I find hard to understand although I think they have a right to their personal beliefs. I believe that the last Pope even embraced evolution and the Big Bang theory.

1. Nobody'd being forced. Christians do present the truth and we pray that people that dont believe eventually chose God(Jesus Christ). But as I've said in some other answers, as long as God is persistant after the souls that arnt yet saved, so also will the people of God be persistant

2. I wont say evolution or the big bang has absolutely no truth to it; but what is not true is notion that this stuff started it's self and there was no one there to start it. Unfortunately what we do today (especially scientist) is we're giving praise to the method and materials instead of giving the credit to the creator you made the material and the method in the first place. And becuase a lot of theese scientist dont know God, not only do they not know God themselves; but their doing a terrible disservice to the people who trust and listen to them to tell them the truth by not acknowledging God in any of the theories and hypothisis.

3. The percieved "force" is becuase to say it plainly, it a fight between telling people the truth of Jesus, or decieving them with the lies that everything just puts it's dam self together. Come on now; have you seen a table put itself together?Have you seen a chair put itself together.Have you seen a computer put itself togeth. Honestly, just common sense should tell you or any scientist that theirs something seriously wrong with their ideas.

4. Thiers plenty of proof for God, but evolutionist, big bang freaks ect. wrather keep living with the pride that they MIGHT be right, wrather than hearing the truth from christians who are the mouth piece for God down here in this world. I promise you there's exponentially more proof for God than there is for evolution, the big bang or any of that other stuff scientist keep rambling about.

5. I suggest you read a christian Bible and share the word to people not be ignorant of God's devices. Just cuase there's some natural science behind a lot of things does not rule out God as the creator. Yes! alot of times there is some natural science behind what God does, but also the people of the time, especially in the Old testament (and even new testament to some degree) didnt know all that fancy smancy scientific stuff. Thing are usually miracles cuase no man at the current time can produce what was done. Like say a blackhole opened up momontarily and plenty of people saw it; just becuase later down the line someone learns how to do what God did earlier should not mean we become ignorant and start runnin off at the gums saying God's not real cuase we can now do what he does.

Its so nice to see a well thought out insightful statement of opinion! I say that in agreement with you, but would have stated so even had I not. My only disagreement with you is along timelines. Evolution is seen in labs everyday in the drug industry. Mutations occur almost daily in viruses and bacteria! On a Larger scale, a bird in the Galapagos has evolved a new beak design in the last 50 years!

Society doesn't force a choice. Most people believe one or the other because it's a fairly polarizing issue.

It's not nice to call people retarded because they believe solely in creationism or evolution. Closed-minded, possibly, but not retarded. Technically, it's not logical or illogical to believe or disbelieve in either theory. There's no proof for either theory, so if you didn't choose to believe in either, that would be just fine.

Why are you so angry and aggro about this? I'm glad you have an idea, but geez, settle the f*ck on down. You're lucky I even read all the way through your question.

i'm a Christian (Methodist) and notice no longer something incorrect with Evolution. the only distinction between "Poof! there is!" advent and Evolving "advent" is the time line. those "Days" interior the scriptures have been basically tens of millions of years in length. we've information that the animals replaced in variety. yet does not a lump of clay replace variety because it particularly is being molded right into a vase? I easily have continuously heard, people who think of The scriptures and Evolution are at odds, do no longer understand sufficient approximately one or the different.

I completely agree with everything you say, especially that Bible stories are parables. (except I don't believe in God, but I respect you for your open-mindedness). Why can't everyone realize that evolution and religion are not mutually exclusive?

Yes, Jesus spoke in parables but that is irrelevent to this debate as it does not concern the new testament at all. The creation myth is from the old testament and it is presented as literal facts from god, not parables.

I suspect you're trying to reconcile the creation story with the theory-tale of evolution.

It doesn't work. They're opposites in many respects.

Evolution says the earth was once a molton mass. It wasn't. Check out http://www.halos.com/. The earth was formed while cold.

The osteo calcium of dinosaur bones has been found in its organic state. Dinosaurs died in the flood, not "millions of years ago" Check out http://www.drdino.com/

Radiometric dating actually PROVES the earth is less than 30,000 years old! Radioactive carbon 14 has a half life of 5730 years. It is estimated that it would take about 30,000 years for the atmosphere to reach equilibrium where the same quantity of carbon12 is being radioactivated, as carbon 14 molecules are losing their radioactivity. But measurements of our atmosphere demonstrate that it is INCREASING in radioactive concentration since the first measurements were made. Thus the earth isn't yet 30,000 years old.

The problems with old earth theory are numerous and insurmountable. Any rational intellegent who objectively evaluates the data must concede that the earth cannot be as old as the evolutionists (not scientists) maintain.
