Alway have to paste a bunch of scriptures for the answer everytime someone asks a question that they don't agree with? If you can't formulate your own opinion then you shouldn't be able to participate in the dialog.

"Always"?--- If you can only make gross generalizations to support your argument, perhaps you shouldn't be able to participate in the dialog.
Referencing Scripture doesn't mean that the Scripture is your opinion, it means that you are referencing the ultimate reference book. Imagine if in a courtroom the judge asked the prosecutor if he was sure that the charge was a criminal offense, to which the lawyer then replied, "Well according to statute 612.100a, which states that...." Would the judge then say, "Why can't you formulate your own opinion and stop quoting the book.?" Of course not. The point is that there is plenty to have opinions about, and some things for which, if we follow Christ, are plainly already decided. We don't have to form an opinion about whether murder, for instance, is wrong because of the ten commandments.

I agree pasting a lot of scripture is bothersome. On the other hand mans opinion isn't worth much, as Christians we are to follow the bible, that was written for all of mankind. If your opinion is bible based, putting a scripture with your answer is appropriate.

Usually I just cite scriptures I don't copy and paste them. When you ask a question in the Religion and Spirituality section expect someone to cite a Holy book. That shouldn't surprise you or upset you.

I have no problem with the pasting of appropriate scriptures to make a point. What I object to is the mindless posting of reams of crap that has nothing to do with the question at hand.

You hit it exactly on the head...all we have is our own opinions...and you can keep searching from others' formulated opinions until you hear what YOU want to hear...BUT...when the answer is in "scripture" it's the truth...guaranteed Word of God!!! then...you have to choose to accept it or reject it!!!

Oh, that's really good. Christians are hereby no longer allowed to invoke God's name or use the Bible to explain why they believe in God and the Bible. Consequently to be fair, companies are no longer allowed to have CEO's and cars are not allowed to have gasoline. Everything must operate without any backup from any source.

True, but I guess we could have our opinion and then use some scripture just to back it up? Is that ok?

I don't think I've ever pasted scriptures in. I'm not sure how it differs from other groups pasting in the writings of Darwin or Einstein. If that's all you've encountered, you haven't encountered us all. Thanks for stereotyping us though.

What do you expect from the Religion and Spirituality section. People are going to use verses from the Bible to support their side.
