The best way to make a friend? Be one. Everyone at school, when you get right down to it, is as nervous as you when meeting new people. Find people you have something in common with, get involved in school activities, help others where and when you can, and soon you'll find yourself with more friends than you can handle! Those who stick with you when you're down in the dumps or make a mistake -- they're the good ones.

Be yourself, don't try to be someone you aren't, just to fit in. But it is also a great opporunity for a fresh start. If you didn't like the kind of friends you had before, try to do things a little differently, so you attract a different kind of people. But if you did like your friends from before, then just keep doing what you're doing. Also, be choosy. You don't have to be best friends with the first person, or group to approach you. Keep your options open, until you find the "good" friends you are looking for.

I think it is great you want to have good friends! The kind of friends you have, will determine the kind of person you are, and the decisions you make, and you will have to live with the decisions you make now, for the rest of your life. So making good friends is a wise thing to do!! Good on ya!! and good luck!

Also, if you are sincerely interested in other people, and ask them questions about themselves, people will open up to you, and people will like you. If you listen to people talk about themselves, they will think you are fun to hang out with.

I personally had to go to a different school after my sophomore year of high school. I was sad to leave all my good friends. All you can do is not be shy and be friendly towards others. It also helps if you play sports or belong to other team-oriented activities. That's pretty much it.... just try and put yourself out there a little bit. Good luck!
