I am in the process of learning more about both religions. I have found alot of evidance that both contradicts the teachins of both religions and back them up! I have become a born agian christian and was raised a Cathlioc, but I am trying to keep an open mind about all religion and what it is that causes the divations among them. I have been talking with both a JW and a group of mormons, and will proceed to gather more information for my study!!!

So after meeting with the mormons I hve been talking too, I was given the book of mormon. I proceded to pray pretty extencively and asked God to show me if I should read this book or not. then I proceeded to open My Key Word Study Bible and got this verse.
(Gal. 1:6-9) I am amazed you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you, and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even though we, or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so I say agian now, if any man is preaching to you contrary to that which you recived, let him be accursed.

With this in mind I read some of the book of mormon and it seems to be very contrary to the 4 different translation that I have. As well as the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures.

So-called "born-agains" and other Trinitarians repeatedly pretend that Jehovah's Witnesses are not Christian. Trinitarians use an artificial, trinity-specific definition of the term "Christian" which excludes anyone who does not believe that Jesus is God Himself, rather than the Son of God. Interestingly, pagans in the first century pretended that Christ's followers were Atheists(!) because the Christians had a somewhat different idea from the pagans about the nature of God.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach that no salvation occurs without Christ, that accepting Christ's sacrifice is a requirement for true worship, that every prayer must acknowledge Christ, that Christ is the King of God's Kingdom, that Christ is the head of the Christian congregation, that Christ is immortal and above every creature, even that Christ was the 'master worker' in creating the universe! Both secular dictionaries and disinterested theologians acknowledge that Jehovah's Witnesses are a Christian religion.

The Trinitarian arguments are intended to insult and demean Jehovah's Witnesses, rather than to give a Scripturally accurate understanding of the term "Christian".

In fact, the bible most closely associates being "Christian" with preaching about Christ and Christ's teachings. Review all the times the bible uses the term "Christian" and note that the context connects the term with:
"declaring the good news"
'teaching quite a crowd'
'open eyes, turn from dark to light'
"uttering sayings of truth"
"persuade"
"keep on glorifying"

(Acts 11:20-26) [The early disciples of Jesus] began talking to the Greek-speaking people, declaring the good news of the Lord Jesus... and taught quite a crowd, and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians.

(Acts 26:17-28) [Jesus said to Paul] I am sending you, to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God... Paul said: “I am not going mad, Your Excellency Festus, but I am uttering sayings of truth and of soundness of mind. ...Do you, King Agrippa, believe the Prophets? I know you believe.” But Agrippa said to Paul: “In a short time you would persuade me to become a Christian.”

(1 Peter 4:14-16) If you are being reproached for the name of Christ, you are happy... But if he suffers as a Christian, let him not feel shame, but let him keep on glorifying God in this name

So why do anti-Witnesses try to hijack the term "Christian" and hide its Scriptural implications? Because anti-Witnesses recognize that it is the preaching work that makes it clear that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are by far the most prominent followers of Christ:

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

So what's your question? I've looked at both of your "questions" and I don't see an actual question.

You don't have to waste points reasking, just add a detail.

I'm LDS and have been for 14 years. I think doing what your doing will help. Prayer ALWAYS helps if done with an open heart, believing you will recieve an answer. I've read most of the answers to your first question. People have said it, but I think it's important to say again. We don't believe that only white men can lead the church. There are many, many members of all races that hold a leadership position in the church. Women also hold leadership positions in the church, just not the same positions as men. Example: There will never be a woman Prophet, or Bishop, but women do hold leadership positions in Relief Society, the Young Women's organization, and Primary. At some point it may be necessary to just focus on one at a time. Of course since I'm LDS, I suggest you focus just on what the LDS missionaries are telling you.

I've been an enthusiastic "Mormon" since my sophomore year in college. After nearly a year of prayerful and serious study of the church and the charges against it, my prayers were answered. I was a bit older than most of the missionaries, and certainly not as well informed, but I served an honorable mission in Scotland, and have never looked back.

The day I embraced Mormonism was THE turning point of my life, and a joyful life it's been!

Good for you. Keep up the studying,

and don't forget to pray to ask what's right, and help you make your decision when it comes time.

A little hint about getting answers to your prayers, to get an answer you need to be 100% willing to act on the answer no matter what it is. I find I often have to work very hard to get myself totally willing to do either thing first.

best wishes.

Key difference between the JW and traditional christianity is they believe fall from grace, that there is no hell and that there is no Trinity. They do not believe that Jesus is the only begotton son of God but rather that he was a creation.

I used to be a JW. I'm not one of those that HATE them and will tell lies about them, but I do know all of the ins and outs, the good and the bad of being a part of that group. If you have some questions, feel free to email me them and I'll tell you my experience.
