He has been showing signs of intermittent shunt blockage for 4 weeks now, he has been in hospital for a week, and they did 2 ct scans, and it showed nothing wrong so they sent him home. He is still sick with severe headaches, very pale and tired, and vomiting. We had a thought that it might be slit ventricle syndrome, does anyone know anything about this, as we can't find out anywhere how long this can go on for, and its breaking our hearts to see him like this. He is only 4 years old and has already had 14 operations on his shunt in his first year, and an infected shunt also in the first year and an operation for a blocked bowel. can anyone help us. thanks.

Though the CT indictes it is blocked, have they checked for infection? What about an MRI? What type of blood work has been done? Is there a travel history (i.e., was your son exposed to something)? I wish your family much luck and success with this.

Take him back to the hospital. Do it now, don't wait for any more answers. Get loud, get insistent, get angry.

The squeaky wheel gets oiled and it sounds like this one needs oil.
