Get yourself a bulletin board made of cork, maybe at least a few feet wide, and put it on a wall. It'll be a great place to tack reminders, Post-It Notes, photos that you don't want to put into picture frames, sketches you've drawn, and maybe computer printouts of funny things you've found on the internet. Now, rather than filling up a wall with holes and tape to put things up, you have an orderly, reusable spot to put things on---and since everything is attached to the board, you can simply move the board by itself if you ever want to change the layout of your room someday. (Beats the hell out of individually taking down then repositioning a wall full of posters/photos/notes to another wall!)

If you don't have that much clutter in your room, get yourself some interesting looking candle holders. Then you can have candles at night. I recommend going to thrift shops or dollar-stores first to check out their candle holders. Get the kind that holds tea candles, and then go to WalMart and buy one of their cheap, 50-count bags of tea candles. They're great because unlike regular candles, you don't have to worry about candle wax dripping all over the place... it simply evaporates as the candle burns up. But also buy 3-4 single candles of different shapes and sizes for variation. Candles don't really decorate a room that much, but it can instantly change the entire mood of your room at night in just an instant!

Similarly, you can decorate your room with various kinds of lights (if you don't mind having to replace the bulbs now and then, and using up some electricity). Get lamp (or two) that can clamp onto the edge of a shelf next to a wall, use a spotlight-style bulb, and point the light so that it forms an interesting shape on the closest wall or corner. You can even put up an artwork or photo in that spot of light once in a while for a "check this out" kind of emphasis.

As for color themes, furniture, wall colors, and bedspreads, well that's really up to you, how much you're willing to spend, and what you can find available to get. White walls are the most efficient at bouncing/reflecting light around so that light is nice and even everywhere, and white walls help bring attention to colored objects in your room.

white is a really nutral colour...what i would reconmend, would be to have a focous wall...a focous wall is only one main wall that has a bright or very colorful paint on it...such as white walls with a deep red fous wall, on the pack wall, then you could buy things that match with the red such as bed covers, pot, a vase, a rug...wood floors look good to and you could have a red rug one it...i would suggets like a cream with a red focous wall or white with a green focous wall it depends what colours you like...i hope this helps

i think that chocolate colours look nice to...deep browns are really in, get a fur frow and put i over some of your quilts to blend the brown from the walls into the bed....beds can be a really good foucle point....and less is more!!

Easy way to do it... If you like the style, go to Pottery Barn.com. They have beautiful furniture and also bath and bedding. Pick your colors for the bedding and have one wall painted to accent the colors you pick for your room.

Get ideas from the Web site and find things similar if theirs is too pricey. Target has a lot of similar styles to Pottery Barn.

I just read an article that states to make the bed the focal point. A beautiful spread or quilt, a set of wonderful sheets, several pillows. You can slowly start to add items to make it your own. Don't rush yourself and wind up with something you're not that fond of.

I like HGTV too. I would try maybe mocha chocolate on the walls, and some earthy tones, some dark wood furniture stuff along those lines, thats what I like. Think of the colors you like and go for it.

You can set the mood of a room in lots of ways, such as lights, and furnishings. If you are starting with a color, your samples might include fabric, paint chips, wallpaper, carpet, wood, stone, and tile.

Well, if you collect things like lighthouses or animals you could use that as your theme in the bedroom. If you are married you might want to go more romantic.
