This is a real interesting debate, which has sparked huge political and social debate over the past 5 years, ever sense the labour party have been power, i might add!!
however the true problem is that people are choosing to do "dumber" subjects such as drama or media instead of thought proking subjects like french and german. it has been in the media today even, the huge decrease by 13% of applicants choosing not to do foreign languages because of them being "too boring, too hard" "not interesting enough" etc. Government should be making all school children to undertake atleast 2 "harder subjects at GCSE" e.g. languages or even Physical subjects like PE or even geography!?!?!
one question everybody needs to ask themeselves is that, the only reason we have the huge sucess rate recently, is due to the large number of uptakes on easier subjects, surely if we focus are immediate tension on encouraging students to challenge themselves they will turn ut to be well rounded individuals of society - surely this is for the good of all?

I don't think kids are cheating in the GGSE exams. But I do blame the government. They have put pressure on the Department of Education to get good results. But it has been reported by the Teachers Unions that pressure is put on them to make sure all student's pass. It has been reported that the spelling but grammar has got worst in the GCSE exams. For example one teacher giving an interview in the Sunday times give a sample reply to one question in the history exam. Here it goes who was Queen Victoria Married to the reply have to say where sad reflection on how bad kids knowledge on British history some replies where so funny i.e Vic was married to old guy in Germany was one answer. Another one was he in Easterenders lol

Teaching methods/resources are improving, and people are more and more geared to wanting qualifications to survive on leaving school. Also, some schools just don't enter a pupil for an exam when they think that pupil won't pass. That will improve the school's figures. Finally, a grade "G" is still a pass. I would hope the overall pass mark would be higher!

guy is a stunning interest … he thinks he's the writer's puppy … he even believes the writer loves him; has a keenness for him; sits up nights to admire him; definite and watch over him and save him out of complication. He prays to him and thinks He listens. isn't it a prior formed thought. -- Mark Twain: devil, writing back to his friends in Heaven upon vacationing Earth, showing his contempt in the direction of this curious invention, guy, after having some days until now until now been banished for 1000 years for thus doing earlier to study, in Letters from the Earth (1909?; revealed in 1962)

It may be "shocking" but it happens. I can't believe they don't use plagiarism software already, as they do at universities, where you can be kicked out of for doing so.
So students who cheat at GCSE level will be caught out sooner or later.... Why not sooner so they don't waste their time trying to pass a degree by cheating??

I think it's incredibly unfair to all the students that have worked very hard to get those grades then are criticised by everyone for getting them.
Maybe the media should be congratulating the students and the teachers for working so hard.

It is that people are getting more intelligent but there is a very small minority that cheat which give the majority of people who work hard for their grades get devalued.
