why i dont hear any sound just picture while opening a video file?

Ok i see the you have check the sound volume and I assume that you are getting other system sounds?

Just check in the control panel in thesound properties first and check that all the sliders are set to max and that none are muted (you may have already done this!)

Now right click on my computer and select properties - then hardware -> then device manager -> then click on the plus next to cd/dvd rom drives > double click on you dvd rom drive > look at the volume tab > make sure that the volume is set to high

If this doesn't work

Still in the device manager > right click on your drive and uninstall

do not restart yet!!!

no click on the plus next to the sound and audio devices > now select you audio device . something like realtec 97 or sound blaster etc by right clicking on it and uninstall

do not restart yet!!!

now go back upto the ide/ata atapti controllers > right click on the one that says BLAH BLAH controller and uninstall again

NOW restart your PC - it should restart and say found new hardware and then ask you to restart again - try this does this work

last option if this does not work

click start -> run type services.msc - go down the list and look for the sound options make sure this is set to manual or automatic

see if this works

you probably should try downloading a new sound driver, or your internal soundcard might be busted, you can buy a new external soundcard at Best Buy that will plug into your USB drive.

I would need to see your computer to be sure

It could be muted, the speakers may not be connected properly, etc.
