H2O2 can be used and is helpful to clean ears out. We use it often in the ER. The trick or precaution is not to use it full strength. 50/50 mix is best with h2o. Peroxide is damaging to cells and should never be used on open wounds if possible. Also a syringe to spray the water into the ear is helpful. you used never put any object in the ear canal. When using a syringe the water should not be to cold or hot. While spraying this into the ear it is helpful to sit down for it can make you dizzy.

It is part of the cocktail along with rubbing alcohol, or if you don't have any, vinegar to put into the ears to help loosen the wax (cerumen is the medical term). The bubbling action of the peroxide helps to loosen it. So don't worry, it is not harmful. Sounds weird, though, when it is in your ear.
