OK, I'll bite. A pound of feathers is heavier than a pound of gold.
...Actually an avoirdupois pound of feathers is heavier than a troy pound of gold. Trick question.

Precious metal and gems were historically measured in troy ounces and pounds. A troy pound is 5760 grains (about 373.24 g, 12 troy ounces), while an avoirdupois pound (which is what we use to weigh things in the US) is 7000 grains (about 453.59 g).

Neither. A pound of feather equals a pound of gold. What's NOT equal is their density. Gold is a lot more dense than feather, therefore a much smaller amount of Gold than feather equals to one pound.
I am not claiming that i am smart though :)

A pound of feathers is marginally heavier because it uses a different system of weight (avoirdupois unit) measurement than does gold (troy unit).

I knew they weren't the same because of this reason, but I couldn't remember why, or which was heavier. I had to cheat and use a reference. ;)
