I also suffered from acid reflux as a teenager, although it is more frequent in adults. Many different imbalances can lead to acid reflux some areas to think about are diet, medications, and exercise. Firstly diet: foods with high acidity, and foods such as soft drinks and especially energy drinks can be very hard to digest and lead to acid reflux limit your intake of these items. Not enough food can also be an issue be sure to eat good foods every day an empty stomach can turn into an unhappy stomach.
Medications: have you started any new medications lately? If so ask your doctor if it could be a possible side effect.
Exercise: if your not getting good exercise your body will start to show it with various symptoms.
Stress is a factor as well of course, stress plays a huge part in the health of a person perhaps more than any factor. Being 14 is stressful any way you look at it, if you feel stress mounting and aren't finding an outlet then figure out an activity that you enjoy to relieve stress and "just do it".
Lastly my acid reflux occured mostly at night, I found that if I didn't eat before bed and avoided overeating in general my symptoms improved. I always kept Tums in my bedroom and water as the episodes of waking in the middle of the night unable to breath were scary and being able to take a drink sooth my stomach with an antacid allowed me to get back to sleep.
Oh yea, just in case...alcohol consumption is also a huge contributor to acid reflux. Hopefully that's a non-issue for you, but if you are drinking realize that that will make you acid reflux and overall health worse.
Hope that helps...good luck!

I had acid reflux for a year.. It was hard to breathe and always felt like water in my throat and I was gagging all the time. I started sleeping sitting up and then put a book under my pillow.. I took tums, prilosec, purple pill and lots of precriptions from my doctor. It was miserable. I was also told it was caused by stress so I tried to calm down.. Then one day I had unexpected surgery and I had 9 gall stones and they removed them and my gall bladder. About a month later I notice my acid reflux was completely gone. So I think my acid reflux was part of the whole problem with my gall bladder. My Doctor said it was possible. Have your parents take you to the Doctor and let him check you out. Its no fun to live like that. Good luck

Do you snore loudly? If you do, your acid reflux may be caused by something called sleep apnea. It's a condition when you stop breathing while asleep. I had acid reflux for as long as I can remember until I got my sleep apnea treated.
Acid reflux happens when acid from your stomach make its way up to your lower esophagus (throat) and irritates it.

You should ask your doctor that and then come back and tell us because now you have us curious. I dream when I over eat (I no longer have acid reflux) so it seems reasonable to think that way.

It sounds like you have an anxiety disorder, which makes GERD worse. You can treat the GERD with a medication like Prilosec over-the-counter or a Prescription like Protonix. In the mean time get some relief from that anxiety. Go to your family doctor about both issues.

Acid and bile comes back up through your throat. It feels like heartburn. Try to take some deep breaths and relax your muscles to calm you down. Also some Tums or Rolaids wouldn't hurt.
