If you only started today that may explain it right there. All sorts of weird places hurt when you first start. Otherwise, try this exercise for strengthening knees : Place two 5lb dumbells crisscrossed in your hands and rest them on your knee. Raise the knee up, supporting the weight of the dumbells on your knee. Do 5-10 reps on each side, two sets. (This exercise is done standing.)

Maybe you went too long or at too high of a level. If you are just starting, only go for 15 minutes. When that gets too easy add 5 minutes, until you get up to 30 minutes.

WHOOOOOOOOO, can I sympathize! I started three weeks agao. It's still something your body has to get used to. You're using muscle you haven't been using. It is easier on the knees, but you still have to get used to it. Stick with it. You'll learn to like it. It took me a bout a week to get used to it.
