Nose bleed or epistaxis happens fairly commonly and is divided into two types depending on the area the bleeding comes from
1) Anterior bleed (from in front)
- occurs commonly in children and young adults
- caused by usually trauma to fragile vessels near the middle wall of the nose ie the septum
- trauma can be eg digging of nose, sneezing hard, rubbing nose etc
- pinch nose, bend forward and place some ice pack on the forehead. that should work.
- go see doctor
2) Posterior bleed (from the back)
- more dangerous as it could be caused by tumors / cancers
- occurs more in adult or elderly
- more difficult to stop bleeding
- try pinching nose and bending forward and placing ice pack on forehead.
- to proceed to see doctor if bleeding persist
*IMPORTANT NOTE
- as it is often very difficult to decide where the bleeding comes from (as they both come out from nostrils!), it is prudent for all cases of nose bleeds to be assessed by the doctor after the initial bleed!

If they're close together - like a couple of days in a row, maybe. What happens is when the first one stops, you have a thin scab in there. If you even sneeze too hard, it can reopen. Or if the air is really dry. Use saline nasal drops, and put a little Vaseline on a q-tip and put it up there to keep it lubed up.
If there's some space between them, go see your doctor, you might be anemic or have a platelet problem.

Nose bleeds are common if your blood vessels are close to surface of the lining of the nose. My daughter gets them all the time. Especially when its dry.
A sure fire way to stop them is this..
Take a string or shoelace and wrap it around your hand below the base of your fingers, then make a fist to tighten the string. This puts pressure on a few Acupunture points in the hand, it usually stops he nosebleed in less than a minute.
Hope it helps.

No. Unless you get punched a lot.
Can be a sign of high blood pressure. Could be just dry sinuses. Go to a Doc and have it checked out.
