You have to split it into two pieces.

University education in US is still the tops. Liberal campus is as much a myth as liberal media. May be the conservative term anything where they don't have absolute control to be liberal. More to the point, the US universities deliver high quality education and continue to attract best of minds from all over the world.

The problem is in Schools. I would blame the lack of competition as the first and foremost reason. Why should we have the same choice in schools as we have in choosing our universities. A healthy dose of competition could cure a host of other symptoms.

It's Not a break down. IT'S BROKE. Being fully educated in Canada and graduating from a Canadian College then attending an American University I am able to shed a bit of an opinion on this.
As well my brother is doing the same thing right now and is experiencing the same thing. Your education system does not promote excellence; it caters to the lowest common denominator. Both of us struggled for a B or B+ here and you do a crap job in the US you get an A it’s a joke. After my first few assignments that I busted my *** on to get an A I started to let up and the A's kept coming. So I continued to let up till I got a B and knew that was the cut effort cut off line and I was low. I could right a thesis a week before it was due when you got 3 months to do it. My brother was almost failing a course here at home and it’s an A course down there. Your education system is failing your society. That’s why if you look at many of your industries and there more important jobs many are filled by non-Americans that are being brought over to fill your gap of unqualified workers. Here in Canada we call what you do “The Canadian Brain Drain" because your companies pay multiple times more salary then we will for a basic University Graduate to get them to work for you. A one last point , PLEASE stop changing pure science to Christian science, your really doing a disservice to your selves and to the world, because who knows what these kids will do if they a properly trained.

Yes. Our education is in a bad state, and will probably get worse. Private schools are doing a better job of educating people, but are running on a smaller budget. Why is that? The methods of educating are getting more and more restricted, and centralized. Efforts are being made to dumb down the education process. Our children are being taught witchcraft, atheism, homosexuality, communism, and other things and parents don't know about it, or don't care about it. I feel sorry for our youth, because they are getting brainwashed by the education system, television, but don't know it. We are having problems with illiteracy, teen pregnancy, and all kinds of problems with drugs and gangs as a result of it. It's even worse in our colleges, where we have Marxist subversive professors who use student's sense of pride, and other peer pressures to get them to agree with thier radical left wing agenda. These people in turn become our journalists, decision makers, and leaders etc. perpetuating this evil agenda to stomp out family, Christiantity and all that is good in the world.

yes and no.

it's all poltics.

money is the root of all.. we do need the funds to improve things that is unfortunate.

where i am we are having (been having for 15 years now) an education boom while just 10 miles north the education system is in such dire shape schools are being closed.

it's amazing.

i think it can be resolved if education was more important than war along with other things.

that's a simple explaination. if i went into details i'd go nuts and you'd be bored to pieces.

I think too many parents expect the school to raise their kids for them. The government does not invest enough money into education and new schools because politicians are wooed by lobbyists from other corporate groups to spend tax dollars on their interests instead of our children. Teachers are not paid enough for what they do, so there are fewer quality teachers. Also American children spend too much time watching TV and playing video games that they do not challenge their minds enough.

Yes I do and in part it is because we have so many ridiculous schools. I mean honestly, immersion schools? So when we go to McDonald's, the kid at the register won't be able to make change but his manager will be able to tell us why - in interpretive dance. Look at some of the grammar and spelling in this site alone? I'll grant you, I'm absolutely certain that mine isn't perfect but for the love of GAWD!!!! I'm not talking about slang, just bad English. Horrible English is not a culture or a statement, it's just incorrect.

Yes I do I think that no matter how many regulations the government puts on the school system they just make it worse. One school in our area has a very high graduation rate, but 40% of those people are illiterate. So what good is that diploma? It is worthless.

Our schools are breaking down because parents want them to. In today's society schools are forbidden to teach students to be people. If a student acts up, the teacher is at fault. If a student fails to learn, the teacher is at fault. If a student is corrected, the teacher, principal and school district are sued.

We are letting the worst parents decide how our schools are run.

Yes, because from every one school there are like 5 churches. Not enough money going towards education.

we ought to create a sturdy option standardized equipment of evaluation of one's information, skills and information of curricula which will make standardized coaching out of date. What i'm speaking about is something resembling the GED software, except it would want to prepare to all scholars. the authorities might want to easily be to blame for finding out the right outcome of the youngster's coaching, no longer the fashion, length or region of getting to carry close. I consider abolishing the dep. of coaching and a voucher software, yet sturdy success getting elected on that platform, lol. My option is uncomplicated and sensible. basically supply the youngsters get admission to to the getting to carry close cloth, a coaching software for deepest volunteer tutors and fogeys, so youngsters have get admission to to educators, yet basically at the same time as they're necessary to fill in the gaps or at the same time as getting to carry close is journey depending(like metallic save) and by no skill innovations depending(like math), and publicly and privately funded preparation establishments, the position youngsters might want to earnings hands-on skills how that is uncomplicated to be educated in the journey that they were on a job website. authentic user-friendly, enable youngsters and fogeys take administration of the getting to carry close procedure and enable them take a standardized attempt to prepare their skills on the very end.
