The sad truth- teacup dogs really are not
bred correctly, and they usually die of health problems, since they are so small and frail. teacups suffer because they are so fragile, and if they break bones or hurt themselves in somewhat of a bad way, they may either die or not recover until much later, or incorrectly. These poor dogs are mainly bred for show and easy pet care. stars like Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie have teacup dogs, and ditch the poor puppies when they gain too much weight. ( "too much weight" is only a 1/2 pound or a pound.)

so, how about getting a small toy dog that you can care for and play with normally?

Try looking for toy dogs online, and in local pet shops. Check in your newspaper for adds about Toy dogs, such as people who are breeding them, or giving away toy puppies.

The first responder was correct, there is no such thing as a teacup Yorkie.
The general public gets confused on the terms, all dogs are grouped in classes according to what they do:
IE Herd dogs...herd / Guard dogs...guard
And then you have the couch potatoes that are just used for hugs and kisses...they are all classed as a TOY.
There are about 23 different breeds that are in the toy class.
Many breeders have "stuck" a cute name (such as T-cup, tiny toy, mini, micro-mini, pocket pup) on the smallest of the puppies, so the buyer would feel as if they were getting what they wanted.

There were only 2 breeders listed in Ohio
http://www.akc.org/classified/search/index.cfm
These are just listing, it does not mean their dogs are any better than other breeders....only that their dogs can be registered with AKC.

No such thing as a teacup yorkie. Breeders use the term just to get more money. Find a reputable breeder who does not use the term and ask for a small yorkie.

Look in the classifieds. Or look at bulliten boards that are up around grocery stores. There is a site that is called petfinder.com or something like that.
