you need a scanner with at least 600 dpi resolution and scan at full res. The file will be very large and probably grainy, since a tiny pic won't have so much detail when blown-up. Adobe Photoshop software can add pixels where there were none before, but it is kind of a crapshoot if the detail level is high.

you could, no doubt about it, go to downloads.com and search for photo editing software, but if the image is the size of a stamp...you'll have trouble with it being grainy.
if it is compressed, like a jpg or bitmap, it loses pixels as you edit it and comes outterrible when enlarged. if you want to blow it to poster size, it might look like modern art, the "creative" kind. go to a cvs or something and enlarge it if you still want to. it might be hard to print off a standard printer.

An image as small as you are decribing would not have enough pixels to convert to a "poster". I doubt there is even a professional graphic artist that could sucessfully attempt such a feet.

You can enlarge it using any photo software. You might want to try someone else's first, before buying, since the photo you want to enlarge probably isn't good enough quality to blow up that large.

Don't even try. Honestly.
You can't 'blow up' a stamp size pic to a poster size.... well, you could, but it would look like s***. You're better off hiring a professional.

I would recommend Qimage for that type of enlargement. Qimage uses vector and lanczos interpolation which has probaby the best results you can get. You can see an example of the quality at

the image quality of the thumbnail size image will not be good enough to enlarge it to poster size. you need an image with at least 350 - 450dpi.

Where are you going to print the poster?
