In my experience, nope! Sometimes over the counter antihistamines help a bit, but they are no replacement for Flonase. Its in a class all it's own-it's a steriod (there's also some other ones like Nasonex-but they're all prescription only too). As of now, the FDA won't allow the sale of steroids over the counter so technically the answer to your question is no. Like I mentioned earlier, there are other allergy drugs out there-like antihistimines and decongestants, but in my experience the relief tends to be only temporary and often times i'll end up with several unwanted side effects. I've found that most otc's for seasonal allergies make you either super tired, super wired, or super addicted-or they just plain don't do anything. I used to get a lot of sinus infections, but Flonase helps control my allergy symptoms effectively (and with almost no side effects) over long periods of time and thus prevents sinus infections. If Flonase works well for you I suggest sticking with it-if it doesn't, talk to your doc about other options. If you want some hard facts on what's available over the counter, ask a pharmacist (however, avoid asking them during busy times-you're more likely to get the most comprehensive infomation when they have fewer people to help) In my experience, pharmacists are more than happy to actually walk to the aisle with you and give you a run down of everything related to what you're asking about. If they're a good pharmacist, they'll lay out your best options and won't try to sell you on any one thing. They are quite knowledgeable, and even if you don't end up buying anything over the counter, at least you'll know whats out there-for now. Well, I hope that helps a bit. Best of luck to you, fellow allergy sufferer!

No, there is no over the counter equivalent to Flonase. Flonase is an intra-nasal steroid spray and the over the counter nasal sprays, like Afrin, are nasal decongestants- a completely different class of medicine. The over the counter nasal sprays are very addictive and should only be used for up 72 hours at a time. Flonase is safe to use regularly and is not addictive.

I'm in Iraq now, but the reports I got was that the leftist dhimmi "anti-war" activists were outnumbered severely by the counter protesters. And knowing that the "anti-war" useless idiots are being stood up to made my entire week!!!

I don't think so. All the nasal spray I bought from the pharmacy did not help me in the least bit. The only one I've found that helps is Flonase.

no there is not. but a less expensive prescription is nasonex. never use over the counter nasal decongestants. it will cake everything up in your nose and lead you to have more problems. flonase and nasonex are steriods... not decongestants, and you can only get steriods by prescription.
