Try a continuation school, that's what they have in California.

High school can certainly be a waste of time in the public
system. Homeschool high school incorporates
"real life" situations, like working, starting a business,
etc. I found most of the classes, years ago, to be
a waste of time and unchallenging.
Can you just start Community College this year?
And start working? Forget public high school and
start looking ahead to where you want to be in a
few years, and move towards that goal: Maybe
college, working and saving alot of money, buying
a house or investing in something for the future.
Read through a college catalog and find some
classes that look interesting. Decide on a career
and go for it!
You can work fulltime and go to school fulltime. It cuts
out on wasted activities, like movies, but if you're working
for something in the future, it's definitely worth it.
If you don't think college is for you, then get working
on a career. Forget the GED, too, unless your job
needs it. (Remember, the GED test was developed
back in the 1940's for the WWII soldiers who hadn't
graduated to take an equivalency test.)
I can only say I've never shown my high school diploma to
anyone!

If you can't go to summer school for extra credit, I would think the GED would be best. My girl did not finish high school and took her GED at the age of 39. She went to school to become a nurse, and later became a Physian's Assistant at UCLA. I In order to get into UCLA you have to pass tough entrance exams. She was smart and got in. She went to school for 6 years straight, including summers. She maintained a low A average when she graduated. I admire her for that- If she can do it, so can you.

... ok dont get me wrong but i dont see how you could have 5.5 credits due to sickness... One would need to be sick for either 3.5 years straight, or be sick every 7th day of school tohave lost that many credits.... and if you were sick for 3.5 years or once a week, that would have to be a serious medical condition, which would be considered an excuse to miss school, and not lose credit, infact NOT excusing for a serious medical condition would be ILLEGAL...
That aside, you could always be home schooled....

Wouldn't they give you extra credit if you go to summer school or take a college class while in high school. How about home schooling?
