I am a straight man, 31 years of age. I am also a strong Christian. I used to cross-dress, myself. I enjoyed it! Just because one cross-dresses does not mean that he/she is gay. That's just a stereotype, and you and I know better than to believe in the 'truth' of stereotypes.
I don't do it anymore. I guess that I was annoyed at how expensive makeup is. LOL.
I've even considered doing it and then going to church (in drag)- but I know that a lot of people would be offended, if I did so. The normal excuse I used in the past was to do it on Halloween. Of course, I no longer celebrate Halloween- but I used to use that "holiday", if you wish to call it such, as an excuse to "get my freak on." He he he.
I really enjoyed it! One time, as a breaching experiment in college, I chose to try a something a bit different from my normal routine. I was actually delighted by the responses, and all the attention I got from people.
To be brutally honest, I think that my ulterior motive in cross-dressing was for the attention I got. I absolutely reveled in it. And, it was just plain fun. I love breaking the rules of society.
That day, I was doing an assignment for my sociology class. I was going to see how people responded to me just showing up one day dressed up in drag. I did pretty much the whole nine yards. I had long hair at the time, so naturally, I wore it down that day. I chose to put on the war-paint, as well, of course. I wore black nail polish on my fingernails. I wore black eyeliner, and orange lipstick. I can't remember what shade of eyeshadow I used...he he he! But I wore my Mom's Muu Muu, and I even wore women's deodorant. My Mom's Muu Muu is cool. It was black, with Renaissance style gold trim.
Quite a few people stared at me that day. Gee, I wonder why? : )
But from their point of view, it was unexpected. I hadn't told anyone what I was planning to do as my experiment- and no one was the wiser to my proclivities for cross-dressing.
I only did it that once, and a couple of other times like on Halloween. But I really wish that I could do it again. Why the heck not? It's not a sin- and there are no laws against it. Only really narrow-minded people have a problem with it. I guess they automatically assume that someone is gay if they dress up in drag. But of course, that is a myth. I mean, I have known a few bisexual and gay people who do it (again, sometimes like on occasions such as Halloween)- but I don't believe that there is a correlation between cross-dressing and homosexuality.
I encourage you to do it- I mean, cross dress, if you enjoy doing it. Why not? It doesn't hurt anybody. Like I said, I just loved the attention factor. You may have different reasons for doing it. But personally, I think it's cool.
I mean, I know and openly admit that I am eccentric. Nobody said I was normal. Bwah Hah Hah!!!!!!!! (echoes)
I'm not implying that people who cross-dress are abnormal- I am just saying that I know I am a little bit of a weirdo, and I am quite proud of who I am. I have always been sensitive, and different somehow from other people. I also think that in my case, part of the equation is a rebellious streak. I don't just pretend to like it, or do it in order for people to think that I am something that I am not. I do it because it's part of who I am as a man, and a human being. Or, rather, DID it. Like I said, I don't engage in the activity any longer, but I would like to. It's just plain fun to me. I guess it's sort of like becoming an actor, or playing a game. You get to wear a mask for a little while, and become a mystery. But the reality is that we all wear masks anyway- some are metaphorical, and others are, I suppose, literal.
I don't judge you because you cross-dress. In fact, I like and admire it that you have the courage to do it.
Just always be natural. If people don't like you for who you really are, then that's too bad. They have lost what could turn out to be the friend of a lifetime.
Good luck! : )

I don't think the problem is that crossdressers are assumed to be gay, but rather that crossdressers are treated as perverts in need of serious therapy. In fact some men get really upset with crossdressers. Perhaps they think that the insults will knock some sense into them.
The issue is really one of failing to understand the "why crossdress" issue. Why do men crossdress? Is it because they are trying to shock their audience? Is it the reaction of others they enjoy?
Or, is it because it provides sexual gratification.. Perhaps it helps him masturbate. Perhaps it just is a sexual addiction. You have heterosexuals, homosexuals why not an autosexual? A person who makes himself into his own object of sexual preference.
Its questions like these that make others confused and fearful. Perhaps we will know more in the future, but today crossdressing is probably one of the lest understood sexual orientations out there.

I live in a big city.I see alot of walks of life out here.I have met alot of cross dresser. But I really don't look at them as gay. There are alot of cross dressers (men) that are in style shows, beauty padgents, ect. And they want to be treated as a lady. But strangly alot of them hasn't had sex for years. There must be a hormon that makes them feel like a female.

strange the madness that any confusion of sexual roles brings out in most men;they think it is quite ok to smash someone's face in but two men making love, nooooo
most men have a fear of their gay desires and because the church has implanted these ideas that any kind of unusual sex is wrong they react violently to this
poor dumb misguided lambs acting so tough and macho and underneath they are just among the worst of mincing prancing queens

Cross dressing itself is not gay. That would just be a fetish. You'd only be gay if you had feelings for men and men only. Of course a lot of homophobes on her may tell you different but that is just their disapproval of your fetish talking. Technically as it's own thing it's not gay.

I dont think crossdressing is gay until you do it to attract a male to engage in sexual behavior with. You just have a fetish. All of us do, some dont know of thiers, but wee all have some sort of fetish. It's fine.

If you are wearing women clothes it is to attract men, therefore you are gay. Just deal with it and stop denying who you are.
