It will depend where you are in the world, and the cat's pedigree (if it's pure bred or a mix or a champion or it's parents were champions, or whatever).
Good Luck

Don't buy from a pet shop, those come from kitten mills. Very nasty places with poor breeding lines and they will charge you just as much as a reputable breeder. If you are serious about it, please find a breeder. Trust me, a reputable one does sell their kittens to a pet store.

I'm sorry, I don't know how much a Scottish Fold is, I just wanted to throw in my two cents.

And as far purebreds having problems, look for a breeder that offers some type of genetic guarantee. Most of them will, if they don't, run for the hills, that's a nasty breeder. I do believe Scottish folds may be prone to a few things because of their ears, I'm not sure, you may want to research the breed thoroughly before you adopt. But as far as saying purebreds have more problems than shelter cats, that's bull and you know it. I admire that you want to help shelter cats, but don't lie. I adopted a shelter cat and 3 days later took him to the vet with an upper respiratory infection that almost killed him. He caught it from the shelter. Don't lie to the girl. Sheesh.

With papers? Expect to pay at least $500. And don't buy from a pet shop! They are generally not the healthiest animals. If you want one buy it directly from a breeder. Good luck.
