Because we are mortal human beings. We are born, we grow up, and we die.
It wasn't always like this. Our first parents, Adam and Eve were created immortal. They could have lived forever, and the rest of us too. That gift was taken from us when sin entered the world, cursing us to death. Jesus, however, saved us from that. The promise of immortality with Him is what He offers if we choose to accept it and follow Him.
God Bless.

It depends on your definition of death.
You are spirit having a human experience. The spirit part of you does not die, it goes on after the death of the body. I personally did not believe this for many years but something happened to change my mind.
For this reason I have come to understand that our life as spirit is our first or primary reality. Our human existence is our secondary reality.
One of these is observable the other is not. This makes the one seem far more real than the other. It makes the human experience that spirit is having seem more real than the spiritual reality that is our true or primary reality.
If you can understand all of this you can see that death is only a function of having a body. In many ways it is no more than an exit strategy for spirit when life's lessons have been learned. This is not really death but merely a transitional moment back to our true reality as spirit.

Look at the old people nowadays. They belong to an era of good clean living. We put in so much of junk food in our system and we exercise so little. Think we can be as good when we are thier age?? Nevah!! Better to die than live a dreary life!!
