The devil tempted Jesus...yes... but if you read further, Jesus didn't give into the temptation. Jesus is still God and the devil will always be less powerful than God.

Devil tempts all--- the Prophets, the Saints, the Seekers, and God saves his worshippers from the temptation. Devil is one of the creations of God. God is supreme. The question whether mylord Jesus was a God or a highly exalted Prophet, may invite polemics. The views held by different Faiths are too well known.

Do some research on the Hebrew of the word 'nasaw' used in this verse originally. It doesn't directly translate to 'tempted' but rather to 'tested.' Secondly, think of the definition of to tempt someone: you give them an option they'd enjoy doing basically, this doesn't mean they asked for that option, nor that they take you up on it.

Satan presented opportunities for Jesus to sin, but since Jesus was divine, and not human, He did NOT sin, but nevertheless the temptation was there. Has nothing to do with the devil's power or lack thereof. Christ allowed Satan to tempt Jesus in the desert, knowing full well Jesus wouldn't sin. Jesus was mortal while he walked on earth, but divinely mortal. He was incapable of sin. He couldn't have been the pure sacrifice for us that he was if he had sinned.

well.. Jesus is God, manifest in human form. therefore, he has all the physical needs and wants of a normal human being; *however* he also has all the power and strength and wisdom of God. therefore, although the devil did his best to tempt the *human* aspect of Jesus, it was indeed a hard test because as a human, u need and want and desire things regardless of if they are good or bad for you. but he was able to use, thru his Godly and spiritual capacity, to see thru the false, temporary glory that satan offerred. for example, i believe he tempted him by saying "look at all these kingdoms, everyone will worship you"..and Jesus thought of it..and said "i am GOD. i already am guaranteed the heavenly kingdom, much larger and holier and greater than any that you could offer" and satan got scared... i forget the story. anyways, of course Jesus would've *wanted* as a human, to get all the glory and force everyone to cower before him. but as God, he knew that was not the way it should be.

remember LOTR? when galadriel (and bilbo, and frodo) had one second when they wanted the ring SO BAD and couldn't give it up.... she was thinking of all the power she could have..and then she realized that she would never be able to tame it, and would become a horrible queen, just as the rest. when u give in to the human temptation, u can do horrible things. it doesn't mean humans are horrible, but we are capable. we just need to make the best decisions as we can, and since we're not perfect, learn from our mistakes, and continue forward, always seeking Better.

Yes, the Devil tempted Jesus... and Jesus is God. Nothing is wrong with temptation... it's succumbing to temptation that's wrong. And I don't think that the Devil could tempt God and make Him to sin... everything in the world is God's, therefore, the devil can't really offer anything to God that is not His own. In addition, the devil was appealing to the carnal part of Jesus... he was physically tired and hungry, and he wanted Jesus to listen to that part of him as opposed to his divine part. Great thing is that it didn't work!

Excuse me, but you are drawing an erroneous conclusion. The bible tells us that Jesus was in every way tempted as we, but was without sin. In the book of John, the first chapter says that Jesus was God made flesh. Therefore, Jesus is God in the flesh, and the devil did tempt Him (of course, Jesus combatted satan with the Word of God).

Your two conclusions are incorrect.

God did get tempted by the devil, Jesus is God in the flesh. The devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness.

I would say that God cannot be tempted and he tempts no man. You are only tempted when you stray from God's truth. There are many verses in the bible that speaks of the Lord being tempted in both the old and the new testament. You have to read the whole in order to understand the one verse. Satan tried to tempt Jesus, but Jesus was never tempted. When Satan said to turn these rocks into bread, Jesus was not tempted, he had an answer, thou shalt not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. When Satan said if you will fall down and worship me I will give you all that your eyes behold, Jesus was not tempted, He said get behind me Satan, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and him only shalt thou serve. I think by now you get my meaning. Satan will try to tempt the Lord, but he is never tempted. God Bless You.

James 1:12-14 (King James Version)

12Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

13Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

14But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

You can't make such foolish comments without reading the context around that chapter, If you would have read it completely you would have found that Jesus was tempted by the devil BUT he did not give into the temptation, He came on earth to become human, and humans are faced with temptation everyday, so that section was His example to us on how not to give into it. Temptation is not sin, If we think about lying but decide not to do it then we are not sinning, it is when we go through with it that we sin.
