Our 5yr old lab mix eats everything she sees outside. She will sometimes eat grass and throw it up, which we have talked to the vet about. But lately it's other stuff too, like other dog's poop. I know there are things to put in your dog's food to prevent them from eating their own feces, but how do you stop them from eating everyone elses! I don't want her to get some horrible disease.

Most labs outgrow this stage by the time they are 2 years old. Could be your dog is bored so she chews. Exercise her and give her attention. Don't just put her outside and expect her to entertain herself, she is chewing! Good luck.

Ahh, dogs that eat poop. Good luck. I can tell you that powder you buy...is MSG like you can buy in the spice section.

First, make sure your dog is getting enough FOOD. Good food and water. If she is full, she is less likely to eat poo.

Normally a dog outgrows this by 5 years, so you have a real problem.
You can actually take hot sauce and drop some on the poo in the yard, then when doggie eats it she gets a hot mouth. This can, in short order, correct the problem.

If she's a nut and eats it all, you may have a throwing up dog, so don't go crazy on the hot sauce. You can use cayenne too, but be careful it's not dry on there or it can get in her eyes. Use very little.

Other than these, the only chance is constant correction. Tell her NO and possibly shake a can of pennies or spray her in the face with some water. But being a lab, she may enjoy it.

Good luck mom

By the way, eating poo is iccky to us. But it's just dog behaviour. It won't make her sick with a disease.

Have you spoken to a veterinarian about the feces aspect of it? Sometimes they could be lacking something in their diet... Yeah, if she is eating other dogs fecal matter, well then, you're just going to have to watch her when she goes outside.... And, make sure you keep up on her vaccines... Also, to keep her from eating her own poo, try For-Bid.... Ask if you clinic sells it.
