If he was unproductive, disruptive, and looking sick, then of course. The nurse cant even give him anything for relief. The mom should have taken care of the problem before he went to school. And why is he constipated in the first place???? it could be psychological or physical. Either case, if this is a problem that cant be resolved with a bit of water, massage, prune juice, and other home remedies, I would talk to a doctor.

Get your friend to give the child fruits, juices, cereals, and water. Avoid meat & cheeses until the bowels function easier.
If this doesn't work, get the chlild to a health clinic. The primary responsibility for the child's health is with the parent. Do not expect the school nurse to solve all problems.

Depending upon how they are dealing with it at home, the mother needs to send a note to school to the teacher and nurse about it.

to aleave the problem.

He shouldnt have been sent home because of constipation... its not like its contagious or anything. Give him raisins, prunes, prunejuice, and lots of water and he should be fine. Good luck!

Yes it is right. If the boy has been constipated too long he should be seen by a doctor.

well I ono if the nurse did the right thing, but as for the constipation, have the child drink prune juice, do sit-ups and other excersices(SP) and eat bran cereal.

yeah, if he's uncomfortable, then he should go home or to the doctor. Works for my daughter - apple juice and singing while on the toilet - strange, i know, but it relaxes her and doesn't make her think about it. Fav song - Copa Cabana. Very funny when we are out in public - people in the bathroom actually join in singing. I sing one part and she finishes it - "Her name was........LOLA, she was a......SHOWGIRL." It works, but I'm sure any song will do. :)

No, the nurse could have given him laxatives or pessaries, but I suppose she thought the mother would and send him to his doctor.
