Dodge Grand Caravan

Seating for 7 and gear along with 26 MPG hwy

A comperably sized suv would suck down gas in the mid teens.

However if you can get a diesel then your economy would increase but diesel is more expensive then regular gasoline.

Honda Pilot. Maximum seating for 8 and the gas mileage is good, particularly compared to other SUV's that seat that many. Plus, 2 wheel drive Pilots have cylinder deactivation so that at highway speeds you can run on half the engine.

I wouldn't go with a smaller SUV simply for the fact that, with the family, you will want additional room for luggage, odds & ends, etc. So, even if you don't need seating for 8, the extra room is always helpful.

http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/findacar.htm - you can find all the mileage info on any model here. Diesel engines get better mileage, some of the Jeep models offer those. Hybrids only get good mileage if you live & work in the city or suburb next to a city you do all your commuting in...not on long open stretches like highways. Diesels beat them in the vast majority of tests: http://www.hybridcars.com/hybrid-versus-diesel.html

If you don't need the off-road capabilities, You may want to consider a CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle, somewhere between a minivan & SUV) as they are lighter and get better mileage than an SUV, plus ride on a smoother riding car, not truck, platform.

then buy a minivan.. best minivan with cylinder deactivation system which saves u fuel by running on half the cylinders once in a while is a honda odyssey.. best fuel mileage.. as for SUV's: 5seater: go for a honda CRV as good as mileage can get.. 7/8 seater: try a toyota Rav-4 although its really a cramped 7 seater.. try a toyota highlander.. if u want a full size SUV that saves u fuel then Honda Pilot.. If u wanna go really big then go for GMC Yukon.. these things run on E-85 too aka ethanol..

Love the Nissan Xterra. Have an 05, but bought it when the 06's were coming out. Theyre EXACTLY the same car. Get the offroad edition, it's awesome.

I'm pretty sure the 07's are similar to the 06's again this year, so check it out, buy an 06 if its true, especially since theyll all be marked down in the coming months. Goodluck!
