Oh my, my daughter is four and starts kindergarten next year, I can't believe it's so close already. She has never been away from me and I am scared to death. She has never even been to day care. I stay at home with her. She is really looking forward to going to school, but I just am so afraid of her being away from me. I am dreading next fall.

I have a ways to go with either child of mine (daughter's almost 2 and son's 3 months), but my dad had a family at his last school (dad's a teacher) where the mother constantly calls to check up on her kids...Dad's at a new school this year as his last school was closed, and the family transferred the kids to the district he now teaches at. The mother had already called the school twice by noon on the first day!! I can understand wanting to check on your kids to see if they're ok, but not to the extent she does. At least your wife doesn't seem to be obsessed with checking on him and waited a bit before calling!

I have a 6yr old I just put in 1st grade and it was a little sad but I am happy for her that she is now in full day school and meeting new people. I also have a 13 month old and may have another one on the way so yes it is and will be sad, they just grow up so darn quickly.
Good luck.

That's so cute! My son is only 6 months and I'm excited and nervous for him to go to school. It's a ways down the road but it's such a defining moment!

She is just a good mum, that cares about her little ones. I am probably going to be the same way. I hate the thought of my baby not being with me ( she is actually 3 ).
