Atleast rinse the mouth immediately....
Drinking a soda also reduces the ph in your mouth which is acidic n enough to start a tooth decay....
Researchers have found a molar tooth to completly dissolve in a glass of soda in a span of 6 mths....You can imagine how bad a soda can be for your teeth...

It is important that you at least rinse with water until you can brush your teeth, soda is very damaging for your teeth, no matter how long after you drink it.

I think as long as you brush 2x a day you will be fine. I drink soda thoughout the day and only brush in the AM and PM and my teeth are perfectly healthy.

Funny, I was reading a magazine while in the dentist's chair and saw that mentioned. I read it aloud to him and I thought he was going to fall off his chair. You can brush right after, and really should if the soda has sugar in it.

the sooner the better! don't give sugar any time to sit on your teeth. when you do that, then you are damaging your teeth enamel.

As soon as you can. Finish your beverage with a water chaser and that will help too.
