Cat owners call themselves animal lovers while allowing their pets to contribute to the decline in the number of birds and small mammals . They are either blind to, or would rather ignore, the fact that this is occurring.
They do not seem to be able to accept that the cat they allow to wander around the neighbourhood everyday can be classed as a nuisance by others.
Only a change in attitude of the cat owner will be reciprocated by the cat hater. AND it would be appreciated greatly if you would ALL JUST keep your cats INSIDE please.

ALL I am ASKING is for you all to PLEASE keep your cats inside. Why is this such a problem? It is SAFER for your cats to keep them inside. I wouldn't have such a problem with cats if they would stay OUT of my yard. I keep my dog out of my neighbours yards, I would like the same courtesy. Why is that so hard to understand?

okay, cats are supposed to be DOMESTICATED, NOT wild. So if it is a domesticated animal and a HOUSE PET and a PART OF THE FAMILY, why do some say "It's their nature" or "that's what the animals in the wild do" And I'm not generalizing. Sheeesh,

my ATTITUDE will change when people who allow thier cats to stalk the neighbourhood ADMIT that their "baby" is a nuisance and will try to STOP their 'baby" roaming into other peoples yards and stinking them up with their poo and smelly pee. And YES it IS my Business when YOUR cat comes into my yard and sprays on the tires and deck and pool and uses MY vegetable garden for a litter box. You wouldn't want cat poop in YOUR vegetables would you? Man some of you people are down right mean.

spectacular, mmm, bird. Bird in cage. Cat outside of cage. Ok you love animals so much you keep a free loving animal like a bird locked up in a tiny cage, clipping it's wings so it can't fly. You are a sadistic one!

portigean.....I'm a HUMAN, not a brainless cat. Why do people "humanize" their cats and dogs. That is disturbing. ANIMALS ARE NOT HUMAN They do NOT have the same thought process as we do. And as far as cats killing for food, I see them dropping off the carcasses UNEATEN, just tortured and maimed. If you FEED Fluffy, it won't need to turn into a serial killer. OR if you just left it inside..........

GASP this one's for you:
Once again, I had to bury your cat today.
Did you know he was gone? Away from his home? Will you shrug and say, "I'll get another"? We cried over him as we buried your cat today. He was so precious, gray, white and black, With a tail as full and as gay. You'd fed him well, treated him right, so why, Did I have to bury him today?
But you let him out, to roam and be lost,
And he had no chance on our street.
Whatever hit him snapped him in two,
We buried your cat today.
Are you calling right now? Searching and hunting? Or will you just shrug it off and say, "There's plenty of cats, we'll just get another." Will we bury it too on another day?

I do not own a cat or classify myself as an animal lover. I do however find it cruel to keep a cat indoors all the time. People need to think before they get animals about the environment they are providing for the animal. The same is true for dog owners or pet owners in general. If you can't properly take care of an animal don't take it. I won't own a cat or dog unless I own an appropriate amount of property for the animal to be happy in. The last dog I had was trained to stay on my property and never annoyed my neighbors even though he was rarely chained when he was outside. The same would go for cats with me even though they can't really be trained. People with small lots or apartments often think they will be able to keep the animal happy and exercised only to find out they really can't. It's a problem that really needs to be solved before the person gets a cat.

I do agree with some of the points that you have metioned. I believe that the cat is a house cat they should be kept indoors only. I remember once i was at a neighbors house when i was younger and we were sitting outside, she was one of these people that let her cats roam. Then one of her cats attacked a bird i was pissed and i chased after the cat and i tried to help the injured bird but it was too late. My neighbor was pissed at me and yelled at me saying that it was natural and demanded i give her cat the dead bird, i did but went home and lost whatever respect i had for her. The only exceptions that cats be allowed to hunt is if they are mousers for farms it is a lot safer than using poisons to keep the pest problem down.

I am a cat lover. I have been owned by several beautiful cats in my life. They were never allowed outside to roam or poach. Cats when they do catch birds it is by an in-born instinct of survival. The circle of life applies to all animals. There is a purpose for what every animal does. If you have a house cat you should never let it out. Just remember people who really care for their animals will keep them in and have them spayed or neutered. If you are having a problem with cats in your neighborhood call your local Humane Society. Some have trapping programs for cats.

True cat LOVERS know that an outdoor cat is a dead cat. I agree everyone should keep their cats inside...
Now that I came back to this, and saw you additions, I have another comment. Some cats and dogs ARE smarter than humans ( not directed towards you ) but there truly are stupid azz people out there...read some of these questions. And even some of these answers...lol.
P.S. reading below AdamKadmon...where do you get your info...No DOG in a lifetime would or probably has killed MORE than a cat! That is just silly and dumb-founded, you amaze me. People REALLY need to think before the post....

Adam is right...you are some kind of nut! You had better just calm down, you sadistic, cat killer. I hope when you rid the neighborhood of all of those "stray" cats, you think about the child down the block who loved that cat and is going to bed crying because "Fluffy" did not come to say goodnight. Or that little old lady who is wondering where her kitty went that always takes an afternoon nap on her lap. You are just a gem of a person. You are one of those people who definitely would not be missed if you disappeared tomorrow. Just another "nuisance" to me, just like the cats are to you. Maybe we should have a season on nuisance people, hmmm?

You're right about keeping cats inside, but don't group all cat owners in with the ones who let their cats run around outside all the time. A lot of people keep their cats indoors.
Not only do outdoor cats kill animals, but they are also more susceptible to diseases and injuries, and they have a shorter lifespan.

I %100 agree with the premise; if you let your cat roam and kill birds and other smaller animals, you forfeit the right to be called an animal lover. You should also forfeit the right to own any animal because that is negligent to the cat as well.

Ummm . . . 1st of all I do keep my domesticated cats inside, I personally think letting them outside is not taking good care of them. Secondly, I think you are a bit in denial of the circle of life. Haven't you ever seen an animal documentary on the Discovery Channel? They all eat eachother. But maybe you can sit them all down & ask them to become vegans. By the way, even though cats eat the birds, the coyotes eat the cats & bears eat the coyotes, etc. Do you see where this pattern is going . . ?

A true animal lover loves not only the more human qualities about their pets, but the animal instinct in them. Cats love the chase, and in some instances control the rodent population.
And you gotta love that.
If you have a personal problem in your area, I believe it woud be more affective to talk with the owners face to face rather than lumping all cat owners together as bird and neighbor hating hypocrites.
Note : I do not own a cat...so please exclude the notion that I am biased.
