Belief only fills in the gaps in our knowlege. And the more we know the less we need belief.
Agree or disagree and why?

My difference between belief and faith:

belief--thinking something is true even though one (personally) cannot prove it

faith--the adherence to a belief even if evidence contradits it. Closedness to the possiblity that the belief could be wrong.

Preacher--
Where there is knowlege there is no need for belief.
Does anyone say they *believe* 2+2=4?

sandislandtim--
This is true--so we seek more knowlege. Belief is, at best, a temporary placeholder.

Agreed. But belief and/or faith does not fill knowledge gaps; it is an inadequate substitute for knowledge and facts.

Belief, Faith and Knowing are all different things... What you've just explained is Faith. I believe these things are not interchangeable in that sense. But I have faith you will understand what I'm trying to say. Knowing the difference of these things will help others understand what you are trying to say to us.

So acquiring knowledge decreases the ability to believe---even the knowledge that we acquire.

I think you are confusing belief with faith.
